wow…you must be really old:lol:
RonnyMemberI suppose there’s no point in persuing the second part of my question which was.. “Why aren’t Us political posts moderated?”
It’s obviously encouraged when the moderator and founder posts ‘ Why I’m leaving Canada.’
A whack job from Canada expressing his racist and political views makes front page of the website…with a Canadian flag.
Now we’re getting racist religeous remarks on threads and Canadian politics thrown into the mix…Nice going Scott.
Does anyone know of a place where I can learn about sustainable living? heheheRonnyMemberNot sure what was made obvious that the thread was a sales pitch, but I would like to say that I have nothing to do with the project.
I built my house about 8 years ago, 30kms away from the new village.
The only person I’ve met who is involved with them is a young lady working at their office on the highway who gave me directions on how to get there.
I drove up, looked around and left without talking to anyone else( I was late for a beach party)…that’s it!!
My interest was solely because I have 6 acres of land that I want to properly plan out for tree planting etc, and wanted to learn more about sustainable living.
They offer courses and have an interesting website.
I would never buy into the village as I don’t like anything that structured and have been already established long ago.
So to ease your suspicions…no, I don’t have any swamp land to sell you.RonnyMemberThe point of my original post was not to get into a debate about free speech and bad economic times.
I too, have no problem just skipping over all the US political threads(though alot of threads start out as something else).
My question was and still is… why is it that a potentially interesting thread about sustainable living in Osa is deleted, while all the other bickering threads about the US are not moderated?
Simple questionRonnyMemberNot sure why there is “mild hostility” toward another poster when I am the one that could be accused as hall monitor.
It’s just my opinion. I hope that nobody perceives it as me having a lack of respect for americans.RonnyMemberNobody was selling or promoting the project in the posts.
It was a question about if anyone had heard of it. I mentioned that I drove by, and this morning tiffen mentioned that it was a cool place.
Are we only allowed to discuss places that Scott is making money from?:lol:RonnyMemberForgot to mention that you won’t receive any e-mails stating that your bills are due from the banks or utility companies.
It’s up to you to go into your account to see what is due monthly. At least this is my experience.RonnyMemberBanco National requires a token to do on-line banking. I bought one from the bank before returning to Canada.
It’s an electronic gizmo that gives you a security # to enter when going into your account.
I think that you might be able to do it with a cell phone as well.
Make sure to enter all the correct account numbers (electricity, insurance, water, etc.) into your account as stated above and give it a test before leaving the country.
It’s really easy once you’ve done it a few times and the bank site is ‘translator freindly’ if your spanish is limited.April 3, 2010 at 1:15 pm in reply to: If you HAVENT seen it, THIS is why the US. is in serious trouble – #199472RonnyMemberHas it ever occured to you that not everyone that reads or participates on this forum is from the US?
Maybe it should be renamed so that it isn’t misleading.
WeLoveCostaRica…don’t forget to pack your guns when you come down y’all.com 🙄April 3, 2010 at 11:12 am in reply to: If you HAVENT seen it, THIS is why the US. is in serious trouble – #199470RonnyMemberI hardly read this forum anymore because I have no interest in US politics and have to continually read posts that have absolutely nothing to do with Costa Rica.
Just my opinion but isn’t there a US politics forum out there that is more appropriate?RonnyMemberI took a drive there today. There’s an office on the costanera a few miles before you get to Palmar. I don’t have any interest as I’m already established in Ojochal but wanted to check it out.
I would recommend that you phone before going, to get a proper tour. I didn’t and just ended up driving back down the hill after stopping at the zipline.. You can get on their mailing list and they will answer any questions by e-mail.
They’re just getting started so hard to comment. I would recommend a 4×4 with good brakes and tires as it’s quite a steep grade to get there.
I was told that they’ll drive you up from the office if you call ahead.
Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful.RonnyMemberIt would be great if someone posts a link to a new detailed map when one becomes available.
The only maps and information I could find on-line about the new hwy are vague with absolutely no detail.RonnyMemberA few years ago, there was a gentleman posting on a Central America travel forum who was riding his motorcycle from the States to South America. He was in his seventies!!
His name is Ted Simon and I’m sure that you will find information as how to contact him if you google his name.RonnyMemberWith all respect to the above posters and your preferences..isn’t there an extra percentage tagged on by renting cars at the airport?
I always have the agency drop off the car at my hotel for my first night at no extra charge and avoid the extra cost. I think they charge an extra 20% at the airport for car rentals …unless something has changed recently.
Hopefully Scott will offer us an updated map of the new hwy with directions for off ramps…at no cost of course..heheheRonnyMemberHere’s a link for ultralight flying in the Dominical area.
