I must have dwelled to long on the home page, my wife just punched me in the arm.
sbw1977Participant
I’ve been to CR 6 times in the last two years and have used Economy each time with great results out of both San Jose and Liberia. They have a satellite office in Nosara as well. I’ve used the little Dihatsu’s (real work horse for it’s size), Rav 4’s Motero’s and recently the 15 passenger van. no problems and quick turn around.
We rented from Economy our last time in CR(15 pass van in Liberia and returned it in San Jose). Everything went well, even chatted with the owners while our paper work was filled out, nice people. The problem was after returning home we received a bill for mysterious damages that appeared after we returned the vehicle. There was a quarter sized stone chip in the head light cover and an interesting looking puncture in the middle of the driver’s door.(I did all the driving and it was not there the last time I got out of the van) We got pinched for an extra $250 and attempts to contact the company went unanswered.
sbw1977ParticipantA new link on GMO’s from Mercola: http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archives/2010/04/03/jeffrey-smith-interview.aspx
I tried the link and it didn’t work. Googled Mercola GMO articles and it was first on the list.
sbw1977ParticipantYou can exchange US dollars for Cordobas at the Nica border crossing, just be sure to have the exchange figured out ahead of time, as the money traders will try to pinch you for a few extra bucks. They wander around the bus parking area with wads of money, you can’t miss them.
If you have time and are anywhere near Masaya Vocano, it is worth the trip. Park & hike right up the rim of an active volcano(mostly smoke),pretty impressive.sbw1977ParticipantWe always get foreign currency from our bank(Chase) before we travel out of the country, whether it be to CR or else where. Chase doesn’t charge a fee and we have our exchange within a few days. They also take back any bills we have left when we return(although that usually isn’t an issue).
sbw1977ParticipantThere is a 50 something single woman from the states that lives on the Carribean coast. She has a website and has been blogging about her experiences in CR for the past 2 years. I don’t know anything about her residency status, but she may be a good source of info, as I believe she is living on a very small budget. If your interested in contacting her send me a pm and I’ll send you her contact info.
sbw1977ParticipantWe took the road from La Fortuna to San Ramon on Jan. 5th. Light clouds & some rain that day, no heavy fog. There was 2 or 3 places where one lane of the road had collapsed for a short distance, a little unsettling driving around those places. Other than that, the general condition of the road was pretty good.
sbw1977ParticipantWe´re staying at the Ramada between Alajuela & San Jose. It shook here pretty good, the hotel staff was freaked out. No damage here, just some emptied shelves.
sbw1977ParticipantMy wife and I made our first trip to CR at the end of Feb. I scheduled my dental visit with Dr. Tatiana Ortiz in Tamarindo.( I think she was profiled on this site about 2 years ago) The clinic is small w/ 2 dentists. I had 4 amalgams replaced and and a crown done. The cost with my dentist would have been at least $1500, I paid $450 and the experience was much better than the assembly line dentistry in the US. We spent almost as much time visiting as she did drilling. Because of time constraints I have to go for a return visit in Dec. to finish the rest of the fillings. BTW the rest of the trip was great.
sbw1977ParticipantThank you for all of the tips. I’ll report back when we return.
sbw1977ParticipantMaravilla,
I haven’t posted in quite some time, but when this topic came up I thought I could add my 2 cents worth. I am a five year cancer survivor (b-cell Non-Hodgkins) and have become more aware of what I use to fuel my body. I take a natural whole food supplement that comes in a four month supply. If your interested in any info e-mail me at sbw@torchlake.com and I would be happy to call or e-mail more info.
sbw1977ParticipantI paid the fee and emailed the copy I received of the title.

sbw1977ParticipantTrying to find some way to verify the property that is being advertised, one developement is in Manzanillo. I have maps, descriptions and some blank documents. Something in the back of my head is saying if it’s sounds to good to be true…
