David – I gave you a chance to retract this spuriuos assertion and you instead reassert something that you know yourself to not be accurate. Why don’t you try and retain a little of what’s left of your credibilty and admit you have not one shred of evidence that Ken Starr has ever investigated Hillary’s Futures insider trading activities.

The moment you produce just one reference to the effect above I will apologise in a most humble fashion.

Davidcmurray – I was wondering when I could rely on you to come up with another erroneous assertion to bring some amusement to the debate.

First you claimed in our Bill Clinton argument that Ken starr was the guy investigating the Lewinsky affair, now you say he’s the guy investigating Hillary’s insider trading too! Don’t you recall you already got this wrong once and that I pointed out to you that he investigated White Water? I’ve got a bad memory so I do sympathise….

I’ll give you an opportunity to retract your claim before proceeding…

Maravilla – I have to say that Roark is right here, the U.S. is winning; there are only about 3,000 U.S. deaths and yet the Iraqi’s (the arch enemy who were about to launch a nuclear attack any minute from mobile rocket launchers – remember those imtellingence photos at the U.N war presentation By Collin Powell? – non of which were actually found by the way), have lost in excess of 500,000 people so the U.S must be winning? No…isn’t that how one keeps score in war?

Lotus – You mean she managed to do this for eight months? Wow, that sounds so much better! If so, I stand corrected and on that basis I retract the insinuation that she did anything wrong. Just because she knew the guy who gets the commodities info before the general public and made perfect trades over such a protracted period doesn’t mean she traded on insider info.

She was just lucky I guess; five days could have been a fluke, but your version is much more plausible!! Perfect trades as a novice trader, buying and selling at near to the daily highs and lows of each day for eight months? This story is better than I thought…thanks for the info!!

    Yours the bigger fool……..

Roark – You seem to have some memory issues.

“All along”?..hmm, I seem to recall that from the outset “the crowd” were the ones that wanted the war in Iraq and George Bush gave them exactly what they wanted, and that takes not one ounce of bravery!

It was a small minority in the U.S. who were smart enough to see through the lies and were brave enough to stand up to the mob (remember the Dixie Chicks!). They received death threats and their livelihoods were jeopardised because the mob concluded they were traitors! That’s how it goes in the Land of the Free; you can have an opinion but God forbid it differs from the one the masses want.

Now the crowd wants out but of course it’s too late for that and it won’t happen. The Democrats go through the farce of trying to force the President to get out, all the while knowing it won’t happen but that it looks good to voters.

The Civil War was a farce in its own right, but that’s for another day. I guess you got your “history” from the books offered in the U.S. education system so your position is not that surprising.

P.S. Do you still eat “Freedom fries”, or have you reverted to French fries again?!!

Now it becomes clear the French knew a thing or two about war; don’t pick a fight unless you really have to. The Gods of war seem to see it the same way.

For the record I do agree with your Climate Change sceptisism.

Roark – Surely this is not serious political debate? I will take the first point raised by this “writer” in your link and treat it with the contempt it deserves.

He says Paul is inconsistent because he would take someone’s liberty over a policy disagreement. This writer shows in this statement that he has no idea of personal accountability which is to a greater extent what libertarians stand for. (i.e. don’t rely on the Govt for your needs).

Those with the ability to think objectively realise that since the reasons given for going to war were nothing but a pack of lies, those responsible should be held accountable for the ensuing mess.

That the Government should concoct a web of lies in order to get good men and women to die for their country is bad enough, but that now, knowing the facts as we do, some still defend this kind of madness is frankly a disturbing reflection on how the masses can be manipulated.

Going against the crowd takes bravery; as we can see from this attempt at character assassination, it is not often a rewarding position to take.

Far from being inconsistent Ron Paul is probably the only one with any consistency on this subject and enough integrity to do the right thing. In the U.K. one other brave politician stepped down from Parliament in protest, he too deserves everyone’s full respect.

The fact is that the Founding Fathers would be ashamed of what the U.S is doing since it goes against all their principles.

I could debate every single point in that article and prove them to be each as worthless as the next….

Scott – I’m not sure I want you to call her but I can assure you this is a direct quote from one of their agents at the beach. She came to look at my farm and was telling us about development costs and referenced Playa Grande Estates in the process.

The front line of homes is perhaps 25 meters from high tide at most; whether they are all part of PGE is not known to me and it could be some are privately held. I do know that their Plan on their website shows plots that front to the beach at the same distance as those already built; perhaps they could build farther back within the plot but not much since they back onto the beach road.

Really though the issue of whether all construction there belongs to PGE is not the point; she made the claim and passed the blame to nature and not to those that have built there. She defended existing construction based upon what must surely be misleading information in order to defend their project at that location.

As regards the service I have experienced with her so far I can tell you that she inspected our farm, gave us a valuation and asked us to forward various materials as you would expect. We did so by email and knowing she was going away for a week left things with her. That was some six weeks ago and not a word since; I won’t be following up with her!

I would like to give you her name but will feel like a snitch; I live at the beach now and like last time don’t want to alienate those I may need in the future. If you were to contact her she may well deny it and will make a good account of herself; what else would you expect from a professional salesperson?

Having said this, if you really want to take this up with her I could be convinced; I doubt I will use them anyway. On the other hand my Master Plan is in formation and we would hope to use as many agents as possible when ready; you see my dilemma.

I only wanted a valuation and whilst we shook hands on a price to offer it I am not that excited by it ($3.00m2). This doesn’t compare that well with a recent offer on your site in the “for sale by owner” section at $25m2 on the road to Huacas. My property fronts to the same road some five minutes away from Pinillas at Cana Fistula. She may be in the right range on value, it’s tough to say.

Roark – A convenient fabrication this may indeed be. I tend to agree with your position on climate change – it’s happening yes, the reasons given may not be correct.

Spite – they could start by using bullet proof glass for the tellers instead of the completely open counters they all have now. The bank guards here are instructed not to use their guns – I kid you not, and this of course doesn’t help.

Not sure if you live in a gated community and never leave your house but I can assure you that crime is happening; serious crime, each and every day. Do you watch local TV?

In a related matter I am told that the turtles don’t go to Playa Grande much anymore since the developer built a row of beach front homes much closer to the high tide line than the 50 meters required by law. An agent with Century 21 explained to me the other day that the beachfront homes on the development (to which they are exclusive agents) was originally more than 50 meters away but now it is not due to the rising sea level! (I understand they were built a little over five years ago!)

She said it without even a hint of a smile too….

remember, if you fly with Taca to Panama they will spray noxious gases in your face before arrival in Panama. If you dare to question the contents of the canisters they will become belligerent and spray you anyway without answering your query.

If you dare to approach the flight attendent after landing and enquire why she acted so ignorantly she will cry to the Captain that you verbally assaulted her and then one of the flight crew will physically assault you pushing you with all his body weight across the cabin. You will then be subjected to being held against your will without access to a lawyer for four hours as a punishment worked out between the airline and the local airport cops.

    This really happened…be warned.

No, how did you hear about them? Do they have a web site? Do they own any land? Have they been to jail or are they about to go? What colour underwear do they wear?

These and more questions will undoubtedly be answered soon in the WLCR forum postings!

cp3o – I guess your father in law has enough reasons to trust you to get information for him; he’s family after all and I’m sure he’s intelligent enough to reach his own conclusions thereafter. And he’s right not to trust the financial services industry generally speaking, although there are of course many good professionals out there.

Sometimes the lowest risk investments are exactly the opposite of what they are supposed to be. I mean these days a fund might have any number of time bombs hidden in it in the form of derivatives or loan related high performance vehicles.

Since he’s a campesino how about simply buying land? (unless of course he needs income). If it’s long term I suggest metals although this subject has been well covered in this forum before.

Or as Scott suggests the local real estate REITS have performed well to date. The banks here can buy almost any international stock or fund and fees can be negotiated down as much as 75% in my experience.

Whilst I may not be able to give specific pointers in this forum he might want to find a good stock/fund newsletter to follow before making a rush decision. The Hulberts Financial digest tracks industry newsletters and you can see the performance dating back up to 25 years in some cases. So unless you are focused on local product this might be a consideration.

Go with what you know and understand might be the best advice anyone can get. Agriculture is where the big money will be made in the next ten years and beyond so he might just have what he needs right under his nose!
