you have just opened my eyes to all the hate I have in my heart.
thank you thank you thank you π
I applaud your acumen and insight
and I will now bow out and go and try to mend my wrongful and closed minded ways.

PS. I teach my kids a very valid belief
there are only 2 things in this world you should ever fear
God!! because of course he is the might and merciful
and also the ignorant masses.

your right on point π
good to see some level headed non emotional observations going on.
instead of
can’t we all just get along mentality :D
You are both wrong. You have so much hate in your hearts you have to vent constantly to the rest of us. Blaming it on your “observations” is a cop out. The fact is people are tired of your constant rants and hatred. That is what GEEGEE was pointing out. You were kindly asked to take a break during the Holiday season, but you can’t even do that. There are people here that have tired of your endless radical diatribe. You see what you want to see in your “observations”. Just for a week try to give it a break. Find a little peace in your hearts.
AMEN to that clewis.
I think you may be misinterpreting this discussion
I personally have no problems with celebrities wanting to move wherever they want.. its just observations of the impact in the area when they do as miravilla commented
there is no discrimination here.
only valid intelligent observations
it’s the same situation and this has happened many many times before
if you happened to live in a really nice upscale neighborhood
and over the years.. it transformed to lets say an undesirable place and all of the people moved out and alot different types of people moved in.
would I be a racist or discrimminatiing.. making a decision to move because i do not like what had happened the the neighborhood??
I don’t think so.. but that is my humble opinion π
in the event some high powered high attention celebrity moved next door to me..
I would wait and access situation over time and see how this impacts my quality of life
and if it does
then I sell and leave. simple
am I the only one that can be honest and discuss these types of things without being labeled anything???
one of the reasons I moved here was because i enjoy the culture of women here to the effect that they take care of thier men and I of course take care of my wife
women are women and men are men here as opposed to the gender confusion we have back in the U.S.
sorry.. this is a different conversation π

Insanity???
why would you say insanity??? maravilla is in my opinion n making a very valid and non emotion observational point of view.
she is NOT one of the people you describing. in fact it is my understanding that she lives a very humble simple life by her own choosing on $1000 per month..
Gee gee.. tell me
do you think someone who comes to this country and learns the culture and blends as much as they can into the culture. and tries to live on or close to the common tico lifestyle here different that
brad pitt coming here to live???
gee gee.. ok let me ask you differently
who do you think would make a lesser of an actual footprint here ins costa rica of the 2???
I can generally place americans into 2 catagories
ones who actually comes here and learns the culture and tries to adapt to this country, like learning the language, cultures, manners, etc
and then there are those that come here and say
hey… how come you dont speak english???:)
smekulyMembergeegee
comments like yours make me reflect and remember that people all come from all walks of life and have all different viewpoints.
I dunno.. but your comments reflecting how we should all just agree and get along sounds a little like Rodney king..:) ( was it he who said that i dont remember lol)
i enjoy hearing from intelligent people and always listen to people views because it may shed some light on my own opinions.
but i just responded to someone who made a post.
it was not my intention to offend anyone.
i have to agree with maravilla regarding celebrities coming here. sorry to hear about johnny depp being near you LOL
but your right.. these actors make millions making believe they are someone else…
did you know johnny depp made $100 million of a piece of the last pirate movie
A HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS!!!!! what a crazy world we live.
i wish they just stayed in Beverly hills.. π
BTW I happen to like brad pitt.
ok
pura vida and lets all try to get along shall we??
steve
ps. Gee gee your a beautiful woman.. can I still say that without getting fined???
smekulyMember
What in the world is the matter with you people? Movie stars, celebs, etc. have every right to visit, buy, etc. in CR. You could only hope (in your dreams) to meet them & know them. How small this makes a lot of you look. Wow!
cler5
hahahha that comment only in my hopes and dreams that i want to meet them
thank you for that.. that comment alone made my morning π
I could give a rats ass on meeting them
in fact
it’s the sheep like mentality of people like you that actually give these celebrities all the attention and monies that they earn.
I made a comment on the impact of having celebrities come and buy in costa rica
this brings more attention to this country and that in my opinion is not needed.
so I am glad that your dreams and hopes are meeting actors… that make millions of dollars
maybe you should start a fan club.. and sign up members and talk about what toilet paper brad pitt uses when he is at home.
happy holidays
smekulyMemberDavid
good definition.
its much more apparant with the penetration of consumerism for lack of a better word
20 years ago
costa ricans seem more happier with less
it was almost like they were happy yet not having anything or knowing that they needed anything. so they work a simpler less ambition lifestyle
nowadays
the cats out of the bag
and now ticos seem to be running around buying shite on credit because they want to have that ipod
or that flatscreen tv
or that new iphone..
so what they are paying 2x what it costs because they are making payments
i just left pricsmart today it’s a thursday 10:30am
and the place was packed
and everyone was walking out of the place with the extended shopping carts full
hundreds of dollars
and here i am buying a few items
asking myself where the hell do all these people get this money lol
buy buy buy..
it will be interesting to see costa rica 10 years going forward
smekulyMemberit’s funny but having these celebs bring attention to costa rica only brings unwanted awareness here. which is good if your in the business of selling real estate as I am sure all the Realtor will be adding this to their sales pitches
but it sucks for people living here.
on another note
having the kind of money these people have… boy oh boy
what options they must have
since that is really the true function of money

optionsthats my opinion
it’s not the mansions cars.. all the materialistic garbage
but real optionssmekulyMemberso you don’t actually live here?? π
ok
its a different experience coming down here for chunks of time
in fact I am convinced if I stayed in NYC and just came here for 2 months at a time throughout the year I would probably be still walking around saying
hey mai
pura vida mai π
congrats on your consulting business
i also own a online business that does pretty good.
but a few years ago i owned a few brick and mortar biz here so i actually plugged into the system here for a few years
gave me a whole new perspective on doing business
smekulyMemberKeith and maravilla
thats great.. your views and your lifestyle..and if you can live here without ever worrying about revenue
then this is the place to be
i have lived in this country on both sides
and i have found if you have some sort of income coming in then everything else is just pan comido π
but if your days also depend of actually getting things done in a somewhat timely fashion
then living here can have its challenges
smekulyMemberpura vida π
smekulyMemberok
what do you mean specifically
be prepared??

I don’t post here much although I still read these forums a bit.
I applaud your U.S. passion and its that blind passion that allows the U.S. to keep moving forward with its excessive taxation of its citizens.
even though I applaud your continued patriotism you have to really do some diligence yourself regarding the U.S.A and its true intentions.
all my friends back in the U.S. say that I also bash america which is really why i dont discuss these things any longer as people get really emotional even on diluted wrong information.
I don’t want bad things to happen to the U.S. as this affects everyone
but you cannot deny the facts and stick your head in the ground.
if you were to commit a portion of your life to studying and searching for the truth it will become evident.
as miravilla mentioned the only TRUE power you have
is you can let your feet do the talking and leave.
thats it
and if costa rica decides to follow in the footsteps of the U.S. with its excessive taxation other micro managing peoples lives policys.
then I will let me feet do the talking and leave. π
there is a interesting book from Buchanan called
suicide of a superpwoer which I found to be very on point with the problems the U.S. faces
here is a except review:
Pat begins in his Introduction with a warning from Soviet Russia: that America is no longer truly a nation, which he defines as “a people of a common ancestry, culture, and language who worship the same God, revere the same heroes, cherish the same history, celebrate the same holidays, [and] share the same music, poetry, art, literature.” Pat’s thesis is clear throughout the book: America is disintegrating before our eyes. “What happened to the country we grew up in?” It’s a question that I, as someone born in 1960 and someone who shares Pat’s Christian beliefs, can identify with.
