An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth, lets start there.
Maybe if we start a reward system for the fuerza publica for every criminal they arrest they get a reward? Is this legal?

Ok, Im not sure why you continue to use negative examples of legal errors in the usa, this is costa rica and every system has problems, however the standards and i repeat standards here are grossly unacceptable. My suggestions are all the wiser, look at the stories on this forum, I am constantly speaking to people who have been victims.
People are starting to wise up to this and education and control is needed here like the oxygen we breathe. Remember americans, canadians and other people dont have to tolerate this ,we can go whenever we want. The costa rican government seems more focused on tourist dollars and not whether you want to live here in peace.

Well,we all know that two wrongs dont make a right, and in the usa and other countries you will be arrested or maybe a hand chopped off if you steal anything and are caught period.
Recently the head or director of the oij police was going to resign but he recanted his resignation due to as I understand receiving several million dollars to hire more police etc.
I am a conservative person and have zero tolerance for the invasion of ones home, privacy and the incredibly violating experience one experiences when one becomes a victim of theft in any way whether it is a pack of chewing gum or a computer.
It may be difficult for the culture here to relate to the anguish one experiences when they have a loss of thousands of dollars,a home,or any personal property that one has a right to own and protect, however the structure of the police starting with the fuerza publica, this serious problem of paying then about $600.00 per month and allowing them to do absolutely nothing basically after a crime occurs is completely unacceptable. The lack of resources with the oij police is a discrace.
The only way in short to start a major change in this country in my opinion is for the president to appoint a crime czar, someone with a resume of strong police and military background of sort with a zero tolerance policy for any crime, lock these criminals up,make the cost of getting out of jail extremely expensive and make it so these criminals see as the old saying goes”crime doesent pay”.
If police and other officials dont want to do their job correctly then throw them out!
As far as imconcerned bring back the island of robos off of tambor,I dont care but there needs to be a crack down here,I dislike nothing more than someone being able to commit a crime and knowingly get away with it,after all $500.00 a day is not a bad salary.
This need to be started with an iron fist!
    sounds good?

The fact is even if you are home but go out for dinner or someting, they are watching you and they will rob you when the opportunity arises. You need full time security period and very close to your house. Robbery is the national pasttime here. Remember costa rica is not paradise but roll of the dice.

My attorney contacted them regarding this and they were not willing to pay any damages for their error. They feel they have no responsibility. And the funny part is that ins gives a discount if you have adt service. According to my attorney I would have to sue them to get anywhere. From all the stories I have heard I think this is bigger than it appears. I would like to see the local newspapers headline into this.

Well im happy to say that ins finally paid me my full policy limit less the deductible. I had to jump through some hoops, even supply them their own papers they gave me jajaja, but finally i went to pick up my check,it was made out to the wrong name,so i sat for another hour in their office and i finally received the money!
So the moral of the story is ins pays!
    Case closed.

Dear sir, When I first started looking at properties in costa rica near the beach about a year ago i encountered properties at good prices in esterillios bejuco from these people. They by their admittance tried to sell a house that they did not have all the permits for and other legal issues and the house was even standing nearly completed. I told them i wanted to get title insurance and thats when a person identifying them self as an attorney advised me they could not offer me clear title to the property not before they tried to get money from me,deposits whatever they could. I being a realestate professional for many years ran not walked away. Sir you have a big problem and these people, they are professionals and in my opinion, were not from my experience looking to give me advice for my protection until i cornered them with the correct questions from my experience.
I can understand your frustration and I dont like to see this kind of thing. If you want the name of an attorney who i would trust and have trusted with many matters and received good results so far please email me and i am happy to give you his information for contact, but always immediately pursue title insurance in your contract for any purchase and require to receive a title commitment from the title company or the contract becomes cancelled and void if not received. If the seller doesent like it then run away from the deal dont walk!!
Additionally you may want to contact a title company to search if you have not yet to see if you even own the property outright?

Mr Hickox has addressed some valid problems in the usa,but please take it easy ha ha ha. You cannot duplicate the safety and personal and property rights anywhere else in the world as are in the united states. Call the police here and see the great results you get here ha ha ha. Perform a realestate transaction here and see what laws are in place for the buyer and seller protection and contract uniformity ha ha ha. Most of us would not be buying anything here if it was not for the money we made in the usa. Im not going to give a long speech here but there is no perfect country, here there seems to be certain levels of interest but this society with the infrastructure of a childs sand box is not the answer either but something else for us to do now. Yes I love the women here and there is business to do here but lets not give up hope on the good ole usa and mr hickcox dont dog her too bad because remember she made most of us who we are,if someone does not like her then tear up your passport but the usa will always be there for most of us if we need her. God Bless America!

UPDATE: After a few weeks of waiting after my robbey claim was put in I received a letter from ins with about 5 questions on it. I sent it to my attorney and just a quick update the first question from ins was why did I wait beyond the 5 day limit to report the claim. Well the ins response agent was there and we filled out a report which i have copies of only hours later!. These people are complete idiots! Now my attorney wants a retainer fee to process this to try to collect from these disorganized baffoons! I will be back in costa rica soon and will be going to the embassy to see what of my rights in this monopoly are not being properly upheld.
    more to come later.

Contact first american title insurance, they insure for issues that are not recorded in the industry unlike the others that is one of themajor exceptions. They are the best of all title companies and you can sleep at night and not become one of the horrible stories.

No worries,if you dont feel good you can correct that and get any medication you want to feel better without a prescription and pay prices that are higher than in the usa. No worries!
