Just curious, Maravilla..At what altitude is your home located?
spriteMember
While I agree with you Chuck1, you’re late to the game. I was feeling that things might get better here. The flames had died down and you stoked the fire. I hope all will refrain from any more of this crap. Point has been made.
Yes, the point has been made: there are some who are asleep and wish to remain so. Written words designed to open their eyes are more than just unwelcome, they are offensive.spriteMemberSo navigating in Costa Rica is stepping over or around garbage or dog poop? The National Defense Authorization Act, which removes the last vestige of our freedom, isn’t worth a mention because CNN ignores it?
You don’t sound like you appreciate Costa Rica or the freedoms we have all recently lost. Why don’t you navigate yourself away from these topics and focus more on the all the poop you seem to find in your path.
spriteMemberAll the posts are labeled as to the subject matter. If a posting does not interest you, why the hell do you read it? Some of you not only read these posts , YOU PARTICIPATE IN THEM! And now you don’t think it is appropriate?
What is happening here is that there are members who do not tolerate opposing viewpoints on any subject, least of all politics and religion. These “types” who follow political correctness like a religion, tend to mostly be conservative and conservatives tend to dislike opposition rather than appreciate it.
We seem to have a full spectrum of interests here and I see a connection between Costa Rica and the other nations from which expats come. If you do not, then stick to the postings about where to find a dentist or which stores carry your favorite peanut butter. I even read those sometimes.
spriteMember

I think instead I will focus on educating you and bringing you out of that cesspool of ignorance and rabid right wing reactionary pooh. Let’s consider this effort as my contribution to making a better world, one person at a time. :)
Wait sprite. Allow me time to lather on some SPF 30 before your light of knowledge washes over me. I may need some hip waders too.
Yes, be careful. The truth DOES burn and you may be in deeper truth than your level of brainwashing can handle.
spriteMember
Thanks for your concern sprite but it is misplaced. Enjoy your sad and resentful life. If you are concerned then give that guy a job.
spriteMember
Instead of ‘Sin Miedo’ the last line of that sign could also be ‘Sin Educacion’ or any number of reasons why this person expects society to ‘give’ him a job. Get some initiative and stop expecting everthing to be handed to you.
Not only are you without compassion, you are without common sense enough for self preservation. You must be dimly aware that you are dependent upon many other people for anything and all that you have. Only hermits surviving in the wild like an animal can make the claim that they depend upon no one for their survival…and even then, they will have a debt to culture and whatever society from which they sprang for whatever education obtained.
I am afraid the one who needs to carry a sign that says “sin educacion” is you.
spriteMemberLove the sign! Viva la revolution!
spriteMember
Maybe it is time to:
Occupy “La Casa Presidencial”
then Laura will listen and understand
a National sales tax affects the poor more than the upper middle class or RICH, having a fair income tax based on your bracket of income is far better
if I earn 500,000 colones and pay 15% = 75,000
but if it is 1,000,000 then it is 150,000
1,000,000 divide by 500,000 = 2
and 2 people making 500,000 pay 150,000 the same as 1 making 1,000,000
bet you; there are thousands making 500,000 compared to those making 1,000,000
Math does not LIE, Politicians HATE the real Math
Having such a large difference between incomes is the real problem. Free markets were supposed to supply accurate price discovery and establish fair recompense for all grades of labor and services. It never worked too well because there are always ways to game any monetary system and so we never really had truly free markets or fair wages.
Taxing spending rather than income is the most fair way to go if we must stay in this stupid system. Essentials such as food, clothing and housing could be exempted from taxation so that subsistence incomes would not be affected.
You just cannot have a healthy society with so much disparity between incomes. Income disparity divides people just as gated community walls do. You end up with a sick society comparable to an individual with multiple, conflicting personalities.
spriteMemberIncome taxes are inherently most unfair to working wage slaves. Perhaps that is why they are so popular with the upper classes who install politicians and help design the laws and decide which ones to enforce to accommodate their need for greed. A national sales tax would be the most fair way to fund a government’s spending.
I know nothing of how Costa Rica structures or enforces its tax regulations. But I do know that there has been concern expressed by experts over a growing economic class divide happening in Tico-land. This all sounds so familiar to my North American ears. And look what has happened in my country! Let’s see how much power the people still have in Costa Rica.

I for one never thought it had a chance (for now obvious reasons), though this was a minority opinion not that long ago. US GDP is $14,582 trillion dollars. In the near term I would say the US is looking pretty good and there could be some buying opportunity in well run US companies after the European shake up is done rattling the markets. 10% of our GDP comes from trade with Europe, fairly insignificant and certainly not enough to sink the ship should Europe sink into a recession (as it did in the 90’s).

Lotus, I could post numerous articles to counter the ones you have listed. And the positive points in that article are bogus when you look at them more closely.
GDP is a false measuring stick and the fact that mainstream economists still use it is evidence that they do not understand the true nature of the problem; system failure is built in to this unsustainable, false economic paradigm.
GDP measures, for example, public expenditures in the health field; ie; hospital bills for disease treatment and prescription purchases. What are we measuring here except illness and death? It is great for the health industry profits but in reality, this is a cost to the general society, not a benefit.
PCE acceleration is an indicator of the average price increase for domestic personal consumption. This makes the GDP look good but, again, it is NOT good for the society in general as it means that inflation is increasing. Goods are taking more of our incomes as the dollar loses its value.
A decrease in imports is an example of consumers with less money to spend. And only that decrease in imports compared to export figures is what made the exports look better along with the stats that companies are REDUCING warehouse inventories. Again, good news for corporations’ bottom lines but corporations are laying off people and hoarding those profits. No good for our economy.
A decrease in local government spending?! How is this good for our economy? It is just more proof that the system is crashing when local governments can no longer afford police and fire protection services. We have a slew of American cities which are hell holes now because of this.
Critical thinking is required when reading any corporate- government sponsored media. They are selling you a bill of goods regarding this economy improving. It is not. It is failing at an ever quickening pace. They want you to be calm and submissive and to continue to throw your money away into paper markets such as stocks and bonds and fiat currency. Don’t do it! Convert to commodities, stuff you can touch and hold which has value. Paper is going to be worth exactly what paper is worth when the world is dragged back into reality kicking and screaming…and bleeding.
November 25, 2011 at 5:43 pm in reply to: Catastrophic systemic problems in financial markets. #198655spriteMemberWagoner, you seem to have a grasp of the problem. I agree that the only way to effectively remove the oppressive system which has been in place for centuries is to educate the masses.
That has never been achieved thanks to the continued use against humanity over the centuries of religious and political propaganda (wars), the monetary system of designed scarcity and, finally, brute force. But we have the internet (at least for now) and word is getting around.
It seems to me that we are now looking at race between the spread of truth and the ability of the elite to win and hold complete control over humanity before a critical mass of populous understanding is realized. Based on what I have seen and experienced so far, I am not hopeful for our side.
There are just too many people entrenched in stupid, superstitious belief systems and others who have been so thoroughly brainwashed that they will never see the light.November 25, 2011 at 12:40 pm in reply to: Catastrophic systemic problems in financial markets. #198652spriteMember

Scott, quoting a Jew making racist remarks doesn’t make you immune from being called a racist yourself. This forum takes on such a wacko slant at times.:?
Do you think I care?
Political “correctness” is allows people to do whatever the hell they want to do and I’m sick of it ….
I wholeheartedly agree with you on this, Scott. And I am coming around to accepting the veracity of the
thesis of Jewish domination. However, I need to point out that just as it is wrong minded to vote for personality over ideas, it is useless to go after people rather than the ideas and the system under which they operate. It seems to me that attacking the ideas and the system would be far more effective. They are evil bastards, those who dominate us through control and creation of money. But history shows us that while individuals come and go, systems of control remain and are serviced by succeeding generations of people from all cultures and the enslavement continues.
November 25, 2011 at 12:37 am in reply to: Catastrophic systemic problems in financial markets. #198650spriteMemberThere seems to be a lot of material to support scotts position on this matter. I am resistant to go in that direction and that makes me suspicious of my own bias. I may have been adversely influenced by years of corporate propaganda. I am keeping an open mind on this one.
November 24, 2011 at 9:27 pm in reply to: Catastrophic systemic problems in financial markets. #198648spriteMember
”The London gold fixing or gold fix is the procedure by which the price of gold is determined twice each business day on the London market by the five members of The London Gold Market Fixing Ltd, on the premises of N M Rothschild & Sons.” [ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gold_fixing ]
In 1790 Mayer Amschel Rothschild said: “Let me issue and control the nation’s money and I care not who writes the laws.”
In 1815 Nathan Mayer Rothschild stated: “I care not what puppet is placed upon the throne of England to rule the Empire on which the sun never sets. The man who controls Britain’s money supply controls the British Empire, and I control the British money supply.”
In 1869 at the funeral of Grand Rabbi Simeon Ben-Iudah, Rabbi Reichorn says that: “Thanks to the terrible power of our International Banks, we have forced the Christians into wars without number. Wars have a special value for Jews, since Christian massacre each other and make more room for us Jews. Wars are the Jew’s Harvest, the Jew banks grow fat on Christian wars. Over one hundred million Christians have been swept off the face of the earth by wars, and the end is not yet.”
Any questions?
Before I condemn one race or creed over the other, I have a question. Actually, I have a few questions;
Who is doing the actually killing by putting on uniforms and badges and pulling gun triggers?
Who flies the planes dropping bombs?
Who continues to elect the same lying traitors to government year after year?
Who continues to fund a murderous government with their obedient compliance to tax regulations?
Who is kneeling down in the shadow of all these evils out of fear?Frankly, I don’t care what religion, nationality or race makes up the majority of the elites in control. If there is one belief system or religion or creed behind the raw urge to control and rule by force, I don’t care. Whatever that belief system is, it is human and it is not unique. What matters is the system used to achieve dominance. That system has to be dismantled.
