These guys are not serious. Nobody is that unplugged from reality. They are just pulling our chains.

But since their pretended ignorance gives us a platform on which to present an interpretation of world events, I like to encourage them.

It goes like this: They ask a stupid question or make a stupid statement, and I respond with an obvious answer. A teaching moment from which they can learn. They don’t really believe the stuff they are saying. they are just repeating some of the nonsense the corporate media uses on really dumbed down citizens, of which, lamentably, there are many.

Why dont you not bother reading sprite. I am entitled to voice my opinion here as are you and if it doesn’t agree with yours that doesn’t make it wrong. The “uncomfortable realties” you refer to don’t make me feel uncomfortable at all. I have no problem with the USA helping to take a evil dictator such as Gaddafi out and with Intel employing 1000’s of Costa Ricans and contributing to the GDP of Costa Rica.
I read and respond here because it interests me to address the points contained herein. But your post makes no points relevant to this discussion. You express NO opinion on the topic other than that it should not be discussed here because you don’t expect to so see it.

There are as many reasons for loving Costa Rica as there are people here. Certainly one of those reasons is that this is a peaceful country and many of us come from a country that is war like and is savaging the world in the name of empire.

If you haven’t looked at the video scott posted, you should. This is what our taxes are being used for. We aren’t getting rid of dictators. We put most of them in power in the first place. We are simply extracting wealth and causing a lot of collateral damage in meantime…and I am not so sure it is collateral damage. There is evidence that civilian casualties are actual targets of state terror.

Even if your naive notion that the US goes to war to defend freedom were correct(and it is not), when the US has to slaughter women and children to achieve that end, or any other, it is evil. Let’s hear what you have to say about those innocent children bleeding and crying after a NATO bombing in Lybia.

It’s no mystery to me why US expats might want to meet here and discuss world events. Nor is it a mystery why someone with your point of view is bothered by posts which force you to face uncomfortable realities. If it is too uncomfortable for you, take the obvious option many others who think as you do take: don’t bother reading. And if you can’t help yourself and must read but have nothing pertinent to the theme to offer, don’t bother with personal critiques . There are so many

It may be pie in the sky, but there had better be an alternative to a monetized world which is run by corporations and banks. While this is not yet quite over, it appears that this system is approaching its end and the result is a planet and a world population which has been savaged. Defending corporations and all the evil they represent because you can’t think of an alternative is just throwing in the towel for lack of imagination.

Maravilla, you are mirroring my thoughts and attitudes exactly. It is encouraging to come across people who arrive at the same conclusions as I do.

But it’s funny how some people can have the same exposure to these world events and come away with such silly notions as Bogino’s. At some point, you have to realize that there is no amount of valid information you can offer which will effect a change in those who simply refuse to use the right hemisphere of their brains. They will stubbornly keep their notions and never let facts and truth change their minds. We should make our way quickly to the life rafts and leave the Titanic to those who cannot be convinced of the impending disaster.

    TERRYS,

You are so far off the mark that you can’t see that you are being played like a violin. This argument between left and right, progressives and conservatives, has been going on for decades. It is a false paradigm you have been brainwashed into so that your energies will be distracted from and unfocused on the real purps.

At the very least, you should wonder why the dollars in your pocket are worth 95% less than they were 100 years ago, before your central banker friends stole the power to create our money out of thin air.

Both democrats and republicans do the bidding of the Fed. Neither party has opposed this banker take over of our society. The last real president we had was Kennedy. He made a valiant effort to kill the Fed. They got him first and with that violent act, a powerful message was sent to all the following presidents from BOTH parties.

The world protesters are not misdirected, you are.

I am a licensed US Customs broker and I dread having to deal with importations into the US of any agricultural products. The FDA is a fierce, convoluted and complicated bureaucracy and they work with Customs. I have no idea how things work in CR but, of course, the best thing to do is to contact an agente aduanal in Costa Rica. They will have the answer as to whether or not the import is permitted and what the cost would be.

Keep the guns, dump the religion. Religion has been one of THEIR tools of enslavement, guns are a regrettable but possible answer to that enslavement.
Rome is burning right now. The global riots will eclipse anything we have ever seen before in history. People are sick of what the politicians have done, and what they allowed the bankers to do; people have no money for food, they can’t pay their bills, so what are they supposed to do? I blame the republicans for a lot of this mess for deregulating the banking system under Reagan and it only got worse from there. Don’t even bring up Bush to me — I left MY country to get away from the b.s. he imposed after 9-11.
This is a storming of the Bastille on a world wide scale, and it is happening for much the same reason as that historic event; the rich, ruling class have simply taken more than the slaves can bear and the slaves are rebelling.

It remains to be seen as to whether or not the bastards who have stolen the world’s wealth can command enough resources to put this movement down. They want the riots, but they want them manageable as a propaganda tool.

There are still a lot of wage slaves out there who are not awake yet or just don’t want to be bothered with revolution because they still have enough to eat.

I am in a BIG hurry to escape to my Costa Rican place before things get much worse. I wonder how much time, if any, there is left.

the above posts diagram the hope and unfortunately the reality.
there is no middle ground here.
history will repeat itself, as it has again and again..
Actually I think the middle ground exists in realizing that those we are electing to congress are failing us badly. It isn’t a matter of left or right, it’s all of them.

The right refuses to raise taxes and the left objects to budget cuts when the vast majority of Americans realize that both have to be done.

We are electing economic and historical illiterates who have no ability to view the future consequences of their actions.
As a conservative leaner, I obviously agree with everything you have to say, Waggoner, including the thought that the Liberal’s solution is raising taxes. I appreciate that you just stated the facts, thus avoiding any contention.
But I just can’t let that Liberal position hang out there. History has established that the Feds demand for more dollars is insatiable. Whatever they ask for, we give them and then they proceed to spend 40% more. As you suggest, with their investments, they have abandoned every financial principle known to man. Do Liberals really trust the Feds will do the right thing if you give them more money? I say treat the “economic and historical Illiterates” like a homebound teenager. When they ask for a handout. Make them live within their means. . .until they show some good judgement.
This is not a liberal or conservative issue. It is simply a problem of bankers raping the world. Both sides of the political fence have been used by the Owners to achieve their goal of concentrating wealth and power into their hands. They keep us distracted with that false left-right battle when they control both sides. Obama is as much a puppet as Bush was. It is foolish to expect any politician to resolve this problem for you. Nothing will change as long as you and most others are looking in the wrong direction.

A gated community is one which is relatively secured and segregated from the surrounding social structure. But I refer more to the gated mindset than the gated physical barrier. Segregation from the community is, by definition, a rejection and repudiation of that community. It marks the resident as an outsider.

A gated community is a statement by the residents to the surrounding, outside community. The essence of the social contract is based on trust and fair distribution of community wealth. This contract is broken by the gated statement “I have more than the rest of you and I do not trust the rest of you and I feel the need to be guarded and have my property protected from you.” Anyone who thinks about this for even a moment must see the insult.

A gated community is also physical evidence of an income gap within a society and that is never healthy. Gated communities are a sign of an infection in the society.
WOW SPRITE::::: You really do have a warped idea of gated communities,Gringos and Ticos alike. Just found this thread and can’t believe the great divide here and the ignorance. I am going to keep this very short but we have lived here for over 18 years now, have lived in various areas of the country and guess what, there are more gated communities throughout this country than in most other countries. And by the way, a very high percentage of them are inhabited Tico or Latino residents. Also, not to mention, the millions of homes with bars on them (mostly out of the gated communities but found in both.) We are fortunate enough to enjoy both the ex pat and the Tico/Latino communities and we wouldn’t change a thing! Hope you get a better attitude soon. Good Luck.
If Costa Rica has more gated communities than other places, that is not a good thing. It means there is a substantial income stratification within the population and this is is a sign of social ill health. Those countries and cultures which are the most innovative, successful and peaceful are those which have the most even distribution of wealth among its people.

I don’t believe I need an attitude adjustment. I think I have a pretty good handle on this matter. Perhaps you are unaware of your own attitudes. You did not specify why you prefer a gated community. If you disagree with my assessment, then tell me what is the main advantage of a gated community for you and why this is a good thing for Costa Rica.

I supposes nobody wakes up one morning in his own bed and suddenly finds himself living in a tyranny. It must happen little by little, step by step…in increments.

Then again,if you are asleep, unaware, unable or unwilling to recognize patterns, then maybe it will seem like a crisis happened over night. I wonder how many European Jews, finding themselves in a death camp in 1944, wondered why they had not seen their demise coming? After all, it was ten years or more in the making.
Welcome back BradBard…

Where do you go to when you disappear for months on end?

    Unfortunately I agree with you.

The timing is perfect and the systems appear to be in place for yet another 9/11 type “surprise”.

This would shut everyone up and get the patriotic morons out on the streets with their flags…

Only this time I’m guessing that the probabilities are that it will be a biological attack of some kind rather than a nuclear “dirty bomb” which is what many people are saying.

And the blame will be put on the Iranians or maybe the Chinese!

    What’s the solution?

We all need a plan B.

We all need a refuge ‘somewhere’ preferably outside of the U.S.

    Scott
I am seeing more and more disturbing articles about probable near future false flag actions on US territory. The last time we had a depression, the powers that be took us to war. And it is my impression, just an impression, that the US TODAY is mostly made up of low grade morons who will follow a false flag right over a cliff.
