Cheer up,wspeed. The loudest ones are not the majority on this issue. And people tend to behave differently in person. Racist remarks are usually shouted from a distance.

Don Diego,
I have had a strong affinity for Cuba for decades. I used to visit the island in the late 70’s and early 80’s. I married into the culture and even moved to Miami to stay close to it without having to leave the States.
But as much as I respect the Cuban people and their revolutionary attempts, I would find it very difficult to adapt to living there. I have been too conditioned too long by
this consumer society here and Cuba has been pounded by an economic blockade for too long. Life was hard there in the 80’s. I can only imagine it is even more difficult now. Even Fidel seems to think so these days. Why are you still in Cuba? Why not move to Costa Rica where the standard of living is easier and the women are prettier? Of course, the Ticas may be less likely than their Cuban sisters to tolerate any machista attitudes. Perhaps that is why you are still in Cuba.
“Misbehaving monkeys” That is a good one. Sprite are you a eunuch? Did you have some debilitating injury? Stay with the uptight white folk in wherever-it-is USA. We Latinos like to live. There is no dancing from the grave. Misbehaving Monkeys!!!! HAAA HAAA erf erf erf shh shh. Wow I have to wipe the coffee off the key board.. Yessenia bring the wash towel,, no not the one from last night my gosh she sure is a little misbehaving monkey, isn’t she???
Don Diego,
I am a functioning hetero sexual male married 28 years to a latina (Puerto Rican). Prior to THIS wife, I had a Cuban wife directly from Pinar del Rio on “La Isla”. I maintain that any gringo male who can withstand and maintain the amorous nature of the latin female has earned the right to make any comment about over sexed people without inviting doubt as to his own standing. Hell, John Wayne married three times to latin women.

There is as much dignity in sex as in any other human appetite based on biological necessity as long as it is balanced and moderate. Where it gets funny and sometimes undignified and sad is when it becomes an obsession in later years. How old are you?

I am no sympathizer with Israel. The Israeli government has been behaving and is behaving just as badly as many other governments.
And religious Jews are no better than any of the other silly and destructive religious faiths…and they are ALL silly and destructive. But I have no stake in that conflict over there. As far as I am concerned, both sides can bury each other with their stupidity.
But we are talking about Costa Rica here.
I guess I miss read the essence of this thread which is titled “Jews In Costa Rica”. I immediately thought of my Israeli friends in Costa Rica. They may or may not be Jews in the religious sense of the word. But they have formed a close knit group of like minded people who have found a way, so far as I know, to live peacefully in Costa Rica. And I enjoy their company.

It’s good to know others see this. It won’t change anything but it’s still good to know.

At this point in the “game”, it is wise to put this in perspective. I am hearing some indignation about loss of “rights”. We are worker slaves and we have NO rights to lose. A constitution is just a piece of paper with printed words and that is all our currency is too. The money we use is not real wealth. It is fiat currency and is just as fake and empty as the constitution. The banks create currency right out of thin air at will just as our constitution is ignored at will. Even when they distribute this fake currency to us, it does not belong to us. They retain ownership of the economy and the fiat currency that they create. Just as we have no real wealth, we have no real rights either.
Your so-called private bank account belongs the government and the government can seize it at any time. If the money you think is in your possession was really yours, how could anyone force you to report its whereabouts? How could anyone take some or all of it from you? Yet this is what is happening to nearly everyone.
I consider the world banks and many governments to be enemies of human society. In today’s world, with a decomposing ecology and an unraveling world economic system, self preservation involves seeing this reality and behaving accordingly.

Scott, these articles are going to confuse the issue with facts and truthful observations which conservative flag wavers are not going to like or are simply going to ignore. Once a mind is set in conservative concrete, there is no breaking free.

Can’t stay out of this one. It amuses me to no end. People are such misbehaving monkeys that I find it hard to sympathize with all the complaints. Men over 50 should either still have their wives or have had them and their families and moved on to other more productive pursuits of a non romantic nature. But to still be subjecting themselves to the old biological imperatives of their youth is more than just undignified. It is a stupid waste of time.

Men and women unite for a number of reasons but the only one that counts is the one that nature intended; making offspring. Stray from that motivation and you deserve whatever comes your way.

I also live in Miami and visited Cuba several times in the late 70’s and early 80’s. My impression of those Cubans who left for Miami after the revolution is that many of them were the very ones who were exploiting others. Then, as the Cubans say, “LLego el comandante y mando a parar”. (The comandante arrived and ordered an end to the exploitation.)

All governments have corruption, some more more than others. Cuba must have some as well. But it surely pales when compared to the absolute corruption of the U.S. system…and I mean absolute.

The Ticos’ belief in their democracy is endearing but it is naive. I have lived my whole life in “el monstro del norte” and that has been an education. I can’t shake my jaded view. Any governments and people laboring under the world monetary system are doomed to continued corruption and slavery. And all major governments participate to varying degrees, including Costa Rica and Cuba.

Don Diego,

The Cuban revolution was never able to develop enough velocity to escape the gravity of the world monetary system. It did not have a philosophy which would permit a divorce from that system, rather it remained enmeshed in the world economy of scarcity, trying to circumvent its most vicious attributes with socialism. But the dysfunctional world economic system is as pervasive as stage IV cancer. Recently, Fidel remarked that the Cuban revolution no longer works for Cuba. The terminal stage of the disease of Capitalism is upon us all. Black markets may well grow but even they require material support.
I would not be reveling too much. The easy life is coming to an end.
Hey Sprite,

I have never heard of a CIMA hospital in San Ramon.
My error. The CIMA hospital is about 40 minutes away from San Ramon. I meant to refer to the San Ramon Hospital, which is NOT a CIMA hospital.

Two weeks ago, I visited my local BCR office and found that my BCR account which I opened in 2006 with only my passport but had not accessed since 2009, had been closed out by the bank and the remaining $600 balance confiscated by the bank for payment of “fees”. I asked to open a new account but was unable to do so with only a passport. Only a utility bill associated with a residence is being accepted now by that bank for new accounts.

But, except for residency purposes, I don’t see the need for a Costa Rican bank account. We are able to withdraw $1000 per day in Costa Rica from our U.S. account at most ATM’s. (In Miami, the limit is only $400).

I believe politicians are totally useless to that end. They are not the ones in control of the economy rather they are the servants of those who are. Politics is a farce, a popularity contest, a show put on to distract us from the real issue. Note how every presidential candidate to make it to the ballot is a rich man who has the same desire to maintain the status quo as his opponent.

Waggoner,
I read your articles and did find them to the point. I used to look at history mostly from a political standpoint. But politics, like religion, is just a secondary tool of control. It isn’t the primary tool and is not the source or cause for the need of control. The primary tool of control is money and the need for control is found in human behavior.

So my focus lately has been on understanding the nature of money and how it is used to enslave populations. As for human behavior, I believe that it is subject to the same natural selective forces that apply across the board. But there is an interesting theory that humans have such power of intellect and environmental control, that they may be able to direct their own evolution. If that is true, the big question is whether or not we survive as a species long enough to beneficially adjust ourselves.

A popular movie made a few years ago on this matter viewed now by millions makes very good explanations about money, human nature and the economy of scarcity maintained by those in control to perpetuate their control.

I don’t find too many optimistic articles these days but I enjoyed the one I found this morning on this site’s home page;
