Hi Doug, I read your response and had to drop a line. I have a small finca over in Tieras Morenas bordering the national park. Will be spending Jan-Mar, want to get my water in and such. A start, looking to create a small lodge. Should get together for a pizza at Mystica. I have been coming down frequently few the last two years first time way back “75”. You mentioned a rental cabin and I was wondering if or when it would be available and if it would be suitable for more than one?

I am glad to hear someone else express what I have found as well. Your right about the practices in C.R. Thanks for the steer to the outfit you used. I am planning to ship versus bying there and agree with the cost savings on the diesel payback. Hope to also bring my shop stuff down as soon as I can. I plan on making street legal offroad rigs to keep me busy when I not working my Espanol.

Fred I have recently purchased a small farm in C.R. near Lake Arenal for the sole purpose of haveing my own motocross track. Also I am in the planning stage of starting up a fabrication shop to hopefully start building offroad machines there (import tariffs are stiff on C.R) as well as marketing them to resorts and indiviudals. As far as bringing your truck down be prepared for tariff cost of several thousand $. The countrey is made for it and the people have a real love of motor sports in general. They have great mechanics but you have to look out for the Tico’s love to “McGiver” repairs. If you need any info on places to go while down there I would be happy to help. Have a great visit look forwrd to a post when you return.
There is a fellow who sells and tours Unimogs and one who rents old FJ-40s to dive around on the coastal roads.

Please take a moment and look at the Mystica Hotel and Yoga Retreat near Lake Arenal. Wonderful place and people. Not sure of need to be near San Jose but worth the visit. I have stayed there on all my trips to the area.
