Things could even out. Here in Dallas I am paying over $200 a month for water, sewer, and trash pick up. Goes up every year.

I guess a $1000 of my $5000 budget will go for utilities, or stay away from the beach. Maybe my original plan of moving to Thailand is not such a bad idea after all.
Thanks for the heads up on utilities.

25’C is great. I don’t need my home any cooler than that. Love the beach. My wife and I both hate the cold weather. In Dallas my allergy’s are very bad. I have never had allergy problems around the beach, and salt water. I don’t know how the rest of the country is for people with bad allergy’s.

Is it any cooler if we live 30 minutes away? My budget is around $5000 a month. We will travel around the country to see what works. I really love the ocean, and diving.

I would miss the kids, but I can always jump on a plane for a quick trip to the states.

I will have a look at Playa del Coco. The heat is fine as long as the AC works well. I pay $400 in the summer for electric in Dallas. As long as I have AC in my bedroom I am good. I was planning on going to Thailand, but the plane ride is a killer. I have gone there a couple of times in 1st class and that was ok. It would be expensive paying for 1st class. I always used airline miles. I am looking at Costa Rica because it is close to the States. Never now when I may need to make a quick trip home.

Maybe I would get tired of diving every day. lol I will just have to move around to see what fits. I really don’t want to spend more than $1500. a month for rent. I am shopping from Dallas, and it may be that the internet prices are high. I am thinking I will go and move around for a while.

My dad is 99 years old and drinks chlorinated water every day, so I guess it will not kill me.

Your posts are a great help. Playa Samara sounds like a great place we will definitely check out. .
The other reason for wanting to get out of Dallas is that my allergies are really bad in Dallas. It seems like when I am on islands, or the coast that I don’t have the allergy problems. I do love scuba diving also. I don’t think my wife could handle months of rain. We love the sun. I think we would like to start by renting a finished home, or condo and move around a little to find out what we like. I don’t think we will ever buy a home in Costa Rica, that way if we get tired of one place it will be easy to relocate. If it rains a lot in September and November we can always be in the US for those months.
