Could we get an update from you please tazman? After people had offered their helpful suggestions?

    Scott
We phoned Hacienda Baru after emailing you and they advised that baby opossums outside the pouch with their eyes closed have no chance of survival. We took this as expert advice and left them outside in a box with a blanket to let nature take its course. We checked them every day and after 3 days, with 3 of the 4 still alive, couldn’t stand it any more and took them back in. We are now feeding them cow’s milk through an eyedropper every few hours, their eyes are open and they are as lively as I would expect any young opossum to be. Thanks to those who replied in a compassionate manner.

Costa Rica rules, hands down! Having been to Jamaica only once it is difficult to be completely fair as we stayed at a resort and only left the grounds on one occassion due to the harrassment of locals both at the beach and in town and on a tour. However, it is very different in CR. We have been to CR about 8 or 9 times and are currently selling our home and liquiding assest to relocate to CR. We plan to move by early Jan/2010. Our 11yr old daughter is very excited and we are not at all concerned for safety or education as there are many options in all areas of CR, local schools are good and private schools are a challenge for transportation depending on the area you choose. My husband and I would strongly suggest that you spend some time travelling the areas of CR that appeal to you before you buy…rent in the area you like and then decide. You also have the option to home school while your child is learning spanish and then attend a local school for social development. Your options are endless, but remember that research is invaluable.
