We bring down groceries every trip like sandwich meats and canned goods that we can’t get in country. We just mark nothing to declare and go on through. the only time we declared anything was when we brought down a tv set, which they noted on my passport so I couldn’t bring another one down later. We do try to have only sealed processed meats or at the very least precooked and frozen which has worked fine for us over the past 2-3 years.

My wife and I just got back from CR. We purchased a condo last year and have been taking household goods down with each time we go. After about 6 trips, we have yet to have any problem with what we bring. This trip we had an iMac and laptop, dvd player and about 75 dvds along with misc kitchen and bedroom stuff. As I read the declaration form, it refers to items for resale, not personal items. Each time we have had 4 bags stuffed to the 50 lb limit.

I had mine whitened at Prisma Dental for $250. They weren’t satisfied with the results and had me come back a few days later for another session at no charge.

My wife and I have stayed at Los Cumbres several times and were happy with everything there but during our last stay someone found another place farther up the mountain that they visited and raved about.

You can check out their website at
    http://www.plasticsurgerycostaricaaftercarefacility.com

Let us know what you think if you do go there.

PS What we enjoyed about Los Cumbres was the family atmosphere that made the people staying there open up to their fellow patients about their procedures and problems so that new people could know better what to expect. The steady stream of new people to replace the ones leaving meant always having new stories at mealtime. The staff was friendly and attentive and the meals were certainly not Tico style dishes although they did follow the policy of lunch being the big meal of the day. In all of our visits, each lasting about 2 weeks I ate much more than I normally do but when I returned home I had not gained any weight which I attribute to the meals served.

I’d have to second Carlos as a choice. We have made 4 trips so far and have used him each time. he is very helpful and we consider him one of our friends in Costa Rica.

My wife used Prisma Dental and we were quite pleased with the reuslts, price and service. Their web page is at . She had six implants and thirteen crowns done and we stayed at Las Cumbres surgical retreat during both visits.
