I have owned a home in Costa Rica for about 10 years…I purchased the home for $35K…and spend a couple months Dec and Jan each year…I live in Alaska…I have never kept more than a couple thousand in the bank…and have reported having a “foreign bank account”…

1.) Does the reporting of a home and corporation start at a home priced at $200K…..Am I ok for owning a home much less than that?

2.) I have reported having a bank account every year…but have never deposited more than a couple thousand.

I am preparing to go back in a couple weeks…Where do I stand?
Can’t stay out of this one. It amuses me to no end. People are such misbehaving monkeys that I find it hard to sympathize with all the complaints. Men over 50 should either still have their wives or have had them and their families and moved on to other more productive pursuits of a non romantic nature. But to still be subjecting themselves to the old biological imperatives of their youth is more than just undignified. It is a stupid waste of time.

Men and women unite for a number of reasons but the only one that counts is the one that nature intended; making offspring. Stray from that motivation and you deserve whatever comes your way.
Sex only for pro-creation?…wow…that thought died out several hundred years ago…you better check your pulse…I think you are already dead!
You are amused very easily…you never notice a beautiful woman…maybe you dance to the beat of a different drummer?…not that there is anything wrong with that…

ZING?….What do you mean ZING?….Your reply was not witty…if you are trying to give yourself points for being clever…you failed…If I was born in Costa Rica…I am sure there would be a larger change in my thinking…and my values would certainly be a bit different…I don’t see too many Ticos hanging out at the Beatle bar handing out 100 dollar bills…

Don Diego…Thanks for your reply…and yes…I am aware that Tonto means “stupid”…tongue in cheek for me…and your reply was interesting…and sincere…I appreciate that…and it is nice to get a response from a Cubano point of view…I will look forward to other responses from you on topics in the future.

Hello…I never said I was gay…I enjoy looking and chatting with beautiful women…ya can’t blame a guy for that…beautiful women…

I just don’t think it is healthy in this day and age…and I usually am with friends that are interested in buying…I don’t go by myself…hate condoms…in addition to not enjoying being with someone that is watching the clock…and wishing they were somewhere else…again…it is a denial thing…I know guys that brag about their conquests…old guys that sound like they are in 8th grade…

All those ladies are sending money home to their mothers and grandmothers that are raising their kids…I certainly don’t blame the women for what they are doing…much of the same thing goes on all over the world…other places just call it something different besides prostitution…at 100 bucks a session…it is better money than a dollar an hour cleaning someone elses bathroom…I let the girls know immediately that I am not a potential customer…nunca…nada…I am a white haired 56 year old…a youngster compared to many old gringos in the bar…

I enjoy looking at beautiful women…ya can’t blame a guy for that!

I own a home in Costa Rica, and have been going down for a few months every year to spruce it up…I respect the different values of the Costa Rican people…and treat them with respect…the only difference between them and myself…is where we were born, and the opportunities available to me because I was born in the USA…I often wonder what I would be like if I was born there.

Good Morning…this conversation has become a bit of a circle jerk….I am always amazed at how many old gringos are in denial about beautiful women loving…and wanting them!

Simple truth is that people are always looking for a way to climb up economically…and if you have a beautiful young woman on your arm…and she is half your age…it is not your old wrinkled body that excites her…

I have been to the BEATLE BAR several times…and I have to admit that the girls are beautiful…and it does build my ego to turn down their willingness to sell what they have to offer..but I have always been cautious when it comes to women…I am not in denial about what they are interested in getting from me…come on guys get real…

I have a friend that fostered a child with a Tica woman…and he really loved her…which makes it all more depressing when he found out that she wants nothing but his money…and I can see the steps forming which may place him in the same predicament as the guy doing time in prison.

I believe that Tica women are more obvious about what they want from a man…and especially from a “RICH GRINGO”…and it is quite obvious…as long as you are not in denial…so stop and think first…or you could be sharing a cell with this poor guy!

Two weeks ago, I visited my local BCR office and found that my BCR account which I opened in 2006 with only my passport but had not accessed since 2009, had been closed out by the bank and the remaining $600 balance confiscated by the bank for payment of “fees”. I asked to open a new account but was unable to do so with only a passport. Only a utility bill associated with a residence is being accepted now by that bank for new accounts.

But, except for residency purposes, I don’t see the need for a Costa Rican bank account. We are able to withdraw $1000 per day in Costa Rica from our U.S. account at most ATM’s. (In Miami, the limit is only $400).

I found my account “locked” because I had not used it in just over 1 year….there was a 10 dollar charge to open it again….as long as you access your account once every calendar year…this should not be a problem.
