Nope – the gubernament had plenty of time to take care of our money and promised a lifelong benefit.

Dave, retirees have paid into the program. I want to eliminate people with unearned benefits.

Sorry, but I am…….wait, not sorry, I AM pro-military. Serving your country in the military is noble and honorable. There are bad apples everywhere, but lets not throw out the baby with the bathwater.

Ok, back to the original topic.

I am all for cuts in SS. We need to look at “earned benefits” vrs. “unearned benefits”. Earned benefits – those you contributed to over time. Unearned benefits – ah, there is the problem. A child born with a disability (blind, deaf, spinal bifida)gets automatic SS benefits. Lets cut those. Drug addicts, alcoholics, can qualify for benefits. Lets cut that too.

There are lots of places to cut SS without hurting people who paid into the program over the years.

I can dodge and weave the potholes much better than a limo! Way easier in a Jeep!
Actually, the Secret Service limos and the drivers who drive them are far more capable than any commercially available Jeep when it comes to obstacle avoidance. That would not hold true off-road, of course, but anyplace the President is likely to go those vehicles and their drivers are in a league of their own.

    You’re welcome to ask me how I know . . .

Hi – sorry for the late reply but I hadn’t been checking this thread. Where are we? I am in Aguacate about 9 k NW of Nuevo Arenal and 30 min from Tilaran. As with all areas, rents vary here from $350 and up. The bus system is very active and can get you just about everywhere. The area has its own website, http://www.duralavida.com. Ladies of the Lake and Arenal Gardeners have facebook pages. The expat community is large and active. Check your inbox for a private message:D:D

A sci-fi writer, Heinlein I think, said something like – ‘Never trust princes; since they don’t produce, they always steal.’ The same can be said of congressmen.

Its not so much manufacturing that worries me, its the basics for manufacturing. During WWII, the record for building a transport ship was three (3!) days. Today we import steel. If you have to import steel, how do you build a ship in three days? How do you build anything without producing the basics?

I put no particular credence in this CBS report on the birth certificate, but, if true, it is important.

Since O has only one American parent, he has to have been born on US soil to be eligible for the presidency. If he was born on foreign soil, his election could and should be invalidated. I haven’t looked up what happens, constitutionally, at that point, but it would be one god-awful mess.

Oh boy. Now we can protest his outrageous ideas in person without leaving home!
