The Israelis developed an apple for CR type climates. As i recall, it is call the Ana. I think I have one growing at 640 meters but it is still very young. Time will tell.

Thorium Salt Reactors. Look it up.

Wind power kills tens of thousands of bats and birds but that’s OK because it’s, you know, “natural energy”. Duh. Politicians know little to nothing about real science and don’t want to strain to learn or strain to explain it to the public. “Natural” power is so much easier on the “brain”.

Ah yes, restaurants in CR.

Every restaurant should have a cat or a dog in evidence. After all, if the animals won’t eat there, neither should you.

Military supplies in transit between Cuba and N. Korea were recently interdicted at the Panama canal. They were hidden under other cargo – sugar cane as I recall. I wonder if Nicaragua and China would stop movement of military supplies.

Lets hope that Monsanto is working on a solution to the leaf rust issue and will also work on developing plants that can deal with climate issues. The climate has changed in the past and will probably continue to change. Geological time is far to vast, human time is short.

We are having our house rewired as soon as a reliable tech is available. Is Romex cable available here?

A friend of ours felt like her bills were too high. Three electricians later, she found one who knew his stuff and her bills dropped by 60%. He also told her not to turn on the lights in the garage as the wiring was dangerous – a problem he will fix.

So, have things checked out. You may be in for a surprise.

Ahh if only Florida were a two hour drive away. I just want to sneak away from the finca for a few days, and flying just isn’t in the cards (all that flapping makes my arms tired…)

Hmm. Unfinished project. After seeing various discussions on this forum about projects that were abandoned unfinished, I’m not sure that any discount would induce me to buy.

Let me clarify:
We researched CR for three years, used the forums, travel sites, advisory sites, tour sites and more.
Since moving here 16 months ago, we have met literally hundreds of people, including members of sports groups, charities, local expat groups, community groups and the like.
We continue to scan the local and national websites for information on living in CR.

From, then, many hundreds of people including people who have had dengue and other tropical ailments, we found the following: there are people who will not even travel to areas where there is a serious danger of contracting dengue fever; people who do travel to such areas have always worn and suggested we wear insect repellent either applied to the skin or to long covering clothing.

Protecting yourself is the intelligent thing to do.
