Good God, man, you have a low opinion of us! Of course we use insect repellent! We aren’t that stupid.
Stay in the states, please.VictoriaLSTMemberOther traits of the unsuccessful:
Self-aggrandizement
Intolerance for the opinions of others
Ego-centricVictoriaLSTMemberAnd don’t forget: the feria (farmer’s market), Ladies of the Lake, a bridge club, cribbage group, poker games and contests, Arenal Gardeners, Christmas bazaar…….. Wow are we havin’ fun!
VictoriaLSTMemberPutting some of that paper in the trash can be so amazingly gross………
My house is plumbed for flushing TP. Some public facilities, especially in older restaurants, are not. Follow the directions posted in restrooms. It it’s not posted, flush away.
July 6, 2013 at 3:30 pm in reply to: Whoops or Hooray? Costa Rica accidentally passes gay civil unions!! #174053VictoriaLSTMemberLotus, this may be a “democratic/socialist nation” but it is also a Catholic nation. And I have to question marriage as a “simple human right”. It seems that far too many things are put forward as ‘human rights’. If loving whom you wish a ‘human right’? Then can NAMBLA make a claim? That’s frightening.
VictoriaLSTMemberThough I said that. Not homeowner, liability.
VictoriaLSTMemberSecurity isn’t that hard. There are banks where jewelry can be stored. Or you can have a piece of furniture made in Sarchi with a hidden storage compartment. A friend of ours puts costume jewelry in a jewelry box on the dresser and conceals the valuable items elsewhere in the home. If a thief look for her jewelry, well, good luck.
So, enjoy your jewelry. Just try to remember where you hid it!
VictoriaLSTMemberYep – had a friend who was burglarized to the tune of $10,000 worth of tools. Sorry, your policy doesn’t cover tools. Tools are ‘commercial’ property not personal property.
I can understand earthquake insurance though. And liability, especially if you hire someone – a housekeeper or gardener – to work at the property. My understanding is that CAJA doesn’t cover injuries at work. Sounds like a ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ thing. If your employee won’t tell…
VictoriaLSTMemberAnd my husband says:
No golf courses
VictoriaLSTMemberFear of curvy roads with no guard rails.
Trying to cope with brief power outages.
Traffic “suggestions” not traffic laws.
Expecting Anglo-Saxon traditions and law in a Catholic country
VictoriaLSTMemberI have been reading your posts and they lead me to think that you do not enjoy being educated. You probably never read anything about Jiryas Joel. And I never suggested that Jews were bad or worthy of contempt, but then accusations seem to be your tactic.
Nevertheless…..
Want to beat your wife? Abuse your children? This is Kiryas Joel, state law does not apply here, so go ahead.Want to claim a property tax exemption as a house of worship? No problem. We will have a minyan meet in your home for a service. After all, the state laws don’t apply here.
Don’t want to follow the state educational curriculum? Don’t want your children to learn English? Don’t want your daughters to get an education? No problem. State laws don’t apply here.
Election day? The rebbe will tell you how to vote, you don’t even have to know the names of the candidates. (A voting bloc like that can and does sway elections.)
Want to work in the diamond district and not claim income? No problem. Cash is king and you can still get your welfare and food stamps.
The best man at our wedding was my husband’s college roommate and Jewish. One of my bridesmaids was Jewish. I am not criticizing a religion, I am criticizing behavior.
All that having been said, I am finished with this thread and your nonsense.

Man, I dislike being in this position
Then why did you place yourself into it?
Have you ever lived in an area where the Hasidim moved in? Insisting on non-compliance with local and state law and getting away with it. Look up information on Kiryas Joel and get back to me.
I don’t much relish getting assigned homework by you so why don’t you explain what local and state laws you believe this community of Hasidic Jews insists on being exempted from.
In any case this upstate New York town is thousands of miles away from you so why on earth does it make the slightest difference to you how they choose to live in their own community? The Amish in Ohio and Pennsylvania have some religious strictures that the states of OH an PA make allowances for – does that bother you too?
And yes, I do live near a Jewish neighborhood that has a high proportion of Orthodox Jews – about 3 miles away – and I have absolutely no problem with them. I suspect that gives me more firsthand experience living among Jews than you have.
I put myself in that position to educate you. For 22 years, I lived just a few miles from Kiryas Joel. It is not “living in their own community” that is the problem, it is demanding special privileges.
VictoriaLSTMember

I don’t accept coincidence an an explanation. Where ever the Israelis have settled in large groups, they have had trouble getting along with their neighbors.
You have it exactly backwards. It isn’t Jews who have had trouble with their neighbors, it is their neighbors who have had trouble with them.
By that logic racists are not to blame for their racism, if must be the blacks themselves who are the cause. And it must be some flaw in women that causes misogyny.
And I was having a pretty happy day today. The along came filth like this.
VictoriaLSTMemberIn case you are wondering, Elizabeth works for Rico Remax Realty.
VictoriaLSTMemberYou can try mercadolibre.com and the Craig’s list for CR as well. If you are selling in the Nuevo Arenal/Tilaran area, I can recommend Mike Neal and Rene Aoki through ricoremaxrealty.com and moranlakearenal.com. All have had US training in real estate and are excellent. They are also knowledgeable about attorneys and builders. Good luck!
