Beauty…thanks!
VmcMember
Thanks VMC.
Like I said earlier…I should have kept my fingers busy elsewhere.Maybe I am just on my male period or something….bloated and insecure!!!!!!
TS
I understand, my nipples are a little sore. I’ve been advised to keep them covered too.LOL
Pura Vida!
VmcMember

You’re making a lot of assumptions there tomstew1
Please explain where the “hating” is in my initial post?
So we can all assume that you’re happy that your taxes are paying for that new one billion dollar embassy then?
And we can assume that you innocently believe your vote actually makes a difference?
So we should forget the past mistakes and the fact that we tend to repeat them ad nauseum and “move forward positive.”
I certainly am not alone in making assumptions here.
Hating may have been too strong…negatively slanted comments may have been a better choice.
So we can all assume that you’re happy that your taxes are paying for that new one billion dollar embassy then?
I am never happy to give my money to anyone really, but I like driving on nice roads, and all of the schools I attending were far from crumbling. Believe it or not, all of my schools after High School even had air conditioning! I do dislike poverty; more than you could ever understand actually….I was born into povery and experienced it first hand. That is one of the things that makes the USA great. You do have the opportunity to escape poverty. Is it easy? NoDo I like the fact that the US is spending $1B on an embassy in London. Not particularly. On my “pissed at the gov’t” meter, that ranks so low it is undetectable. Understand that there is quite a bit of range between:
Happy with all gov’t actions————————totally pissed at USA and want to expatriate. And we can assume that you innocently believe your vote actually makes a difference? However innocent or naive I may be to think so, the short anwer is yes. Beacuse: 1. It has worked in the past. 2. It is the only system I have to actually make change and finally; 3. I have seen it in action and it does actually work.
Are there things that needs to be changed, yes….ear marks, etc…and eventually those changes will be made. It just hasn’t gotten to critical mass just yet.
So we should forget the past mistakes and the fact that we tend to repeat them ad nauseum and “move forward positive.”[/ To answer your question: No, that would be senseless; and I wished I hadn’t use the term positive..Actually that word is considerably overused in the US. We should learn from our mistakes and diligently move forward on creating a better world for ALL of us. New thinking is always good (remember Einsteins quote), and ultimately it is up to the people of the US to vote and make change where change needs to be made.
Don’t take anyting I said personally…actually I am busy as hell and probably shouldn’t have let my fingers do the talking here…..
I am coming to CR for the beauty of the country, good fishing and good people. I hate to be around people who only see “half empty” water bottles so-to-speak.

Very thoughtful answer TS.

Here Here!
…And What Scott said too!
I find it disturbing when people who have ABSOLUTELY no clue as to what is truly going on (and I’m not saying that this is the case here), jump up and call those who oppose Tyranny and Despotism “Haters”
Patriots all…….
Pura Vida.

Congress and the White House are INFESTED with them……Hopefully the sheeple will awaken before it’s too late.

Shall I post the YouTube link to the video of the UFO over Poas?….Serious.
VmcMemberThere’s a LOT I could say on this subject, but I wouldn’t be allowed to say it in a public forum Scott would understand…..Put it this way, you are ALL right to a degree, and that is why I want out of this handbasket…..Well, ONE of the reasons.
There is WAAAY more going on than meets the eye.
VmcMember
I think that would be overkill unless you’re really comfortable with losing that much. Why risk it?
You can get c200,000 from the ATM at the airport. Depending on your lodging plans, that will be plenty of money for a couple or three days. Remember, you can use your VISA card in most restaurants and many hotels, too.
And I question (because I don’t know) what exchange rate you’ll get when you go to your bank (if your bank can even obtain colones).
Keep this simple. Arrive with about $200US in ten and five dollar bills. Get a wad of colones from the ATM at the airport. Get settled wherever you’re staying. Then see how far those colones will take you. When the pile’s getting low, go back to the ATM.
And remember, Traveler’s Cheques are not generally welcomed here. Cashing them at the bank can be a bureaucratic hassle.
Were it mine to do, I’d have ATM/debit cards from two different bank accounts just in case the ATM eats one or the bank’s security system hangs you up.
“The quiet one” indeed!
I sincerely HOPE you know that I meant that in jest…….LOL
I was going to bring that kind of cash in because we have to get a house rented and stuff, this is a PERMANENT trip, not a vacation….. If I did indeed bring that kind of cash in, it would be ATTACHED to my body somehow, and not in my luggage.
As soon as I know the exact date of our travel, I’ll be able to work on getting colones to our bank….we’ll re-think this strategy as we go along….right now, all the loose ends are all up in the air! LOL
Thank you for all the advice, and I didn’t mean to hijack or anything, so I’ll do the more difficult thing for me and shut up…LOL
THANKS AGAIN!! …Oh Quiet one.
VmcMember
I just have to share this story with you . . .
Several years ago, an American couple liquidated everything and brought $29,000 to Costa Rica in cash. In the process of arriving, their luggage was searched by Customs.
At the hotel, they couldn’t find the cash, so the next morning they went back to Customs and raised holy hell. Of course, no one at Customs could or would admit to anything, and they left emptyhanded and unsatisfied.
Back at the hotel, they went back through all their luggage and, lo and behold, there was the $29,000 in the outside pocket of a suitcase. (Think about that.)
When one asked the other if s/he hadn’t searched that suitcase, the reply was that s/he hadn’t wanted to disturb the cat!
If we came with c1,000,000 and $1000.00 USD would that be overkill?
VmcMember
davek, embrace the fees. Love them like you love life itself.
vmc, no one (no one) has ever (ever) accused me of being the quiet one before. I’m not sure I’m comfortable with it.
Lo Siento Mi Amigo.
VmcMemberSeems Dave has a wild side………It’s ALWAYS the quiet ones……
LOL
VmcMemberThose of you with whom I have spoken know that we are counting the days, but this impending decree may cause us to re-think our timetable just a little bit……Hope they lift some of the oppressive duties and restrictions, I’m sure that more Baby Boomers would come…..Hope it’s done before the end of April.
Hope to see you all soon!
Dan.
VmcMember
i live at 8000 ft in colorado. i get altitude sickness every time i go back, but nothing like what i had in cuzco. the coca tea was great, but i didn’t sleep for 36 hours after drinking a pot of it and was a wreck from lack of sleep. about half the people in my hotel were deathly ill from the altitude. some had to be flown back to lima before their heads exploded. it’s nothing to fool around with. but it’s a great experience. it’s only 3.5 hours from SJO to lima. and then about an hour by plane to cuzco. flying through the andes is not for the faint of heart. the mountain peaks are so high that you could touch them if the windows on a plane opened! jejeje
Wow, where are you Telluride maybe? I lived in Colorado Springs, but spent a lot of time in the higher altitudes, Pikes Peak, Cripple Creek, Victor, Vail etc…, so I know this feeling. Perhaps I oughtta get one of those oxygen generators I see everybody in WalMart carrying……..LOL
There is just so much to see and do, I hope we can cram in HALF of it while the kids are young enough to enjoy it, and before I’m too old and worn out to follow.
Naturally, we are going to see all of Costa Rica we can first, but those other things are on our “Bucket List”
VmcMember
i just checked into flights to lima. they’re about $500 roundtrip. from lima you have to get to cuzco and from there go to MP. it’s been years since i was there so i’d like to go back, but they had serious flooding on the roads so the ruins were off limits and they had to airlift a lot of people out of there. don’t go if you have altitude problems. cuzco is about 11,200 ft. and you go down about 3000 feet to MP. of course, they do ply you with coca tea when you get off the plane to combat altitude sickness, but you’d better be in good shape to do that trip. last time i was there two people dropped dead on the ruins. both were overweight, and had a history of heart problems.
Very cool…thanks. I heard about the flooding recently, and if we went that direction, it probably wouldn’t be any time too soon, but by the end of the year would be nice.
If nothing else, I’d like to see Nazca, so maybe there or Galapagos will remain in our sites. I’m a fat bloated, out of shape American couch-potato (my opinion only, I hear), but I’m not too afraid of altitude…..I lived in Colorado once, but with more days AHEAD of me than behind me still………..LOL
I do hope that once we get settled, you might give us some tips on the Healthy eating and all.
THANKS as always Maravilla!
Pura Vida!
