    Possible…

That would be impossible from what I have completed and what they need at the Banco de Costa Rica, where I bank. There are many banks available for you to use. Someone else will have to tell you the available banks in Puerto Viejo

Do you have a Costa Rican corporation? Then it is easy, if you are there.

Last year I had a CR friend accompany me to the Banco de Costa Rica to open an account. He knew a few of the people who worked there. With a little persuasion from my friend, we were allowed to open a savings account with a debit card.

I was told that after six months I could open a checking account, but now I can’t seem to find a reason to have a checking account.

With the debit card we can pay the electricity, water and phone bills from the States. When I travel the debit card works very well.

Hotels are not what I like to arrive into while traveling to Costa Rica. My preference is a good Bead and Breakfast with nice company and knowledgeable proprietors.

This is my choice, with a five minute ride from Juan Santamaria Airport.

Dawn and Michael are great owners and will treat you like family. Their rates are good, also.

    Hi Ben

I have a Costa Rican Corporation. It was easy to get a phone, checking account and utilities under the S.A.

My partners and I have setup up a savings account and have access to the money through a Debit Card. They told us with a good track record at Banco de Costa Rica, in six months we could have a checking account.

With the savings account debit card, it can be used at any establishment in CR that accepts a VISA Debit Card and you can have access to your funds at any of the mant branch banks or ATMs.

We had a local friend go with us to BCR to get the initial savings accounts setup at BCR.

Tat was nice lotus. It will be fun to draw and expand my thoughts on my new home design for San Ramon.

I found an easy ling for everyone to download Sketchup by Google. It is a plug-in for Google Earth.

Google Earth is pretty amazing on it’s own. I am anxious to try my hand at Google’s Sketchup.

If I were a single female who wanted to travel in a strange country, where you hear all kinds of stories… I would want a brute of a man to travel with me… but, I am not a female…

On the other hand. If I wanted a female travel companion in Costa Rica, you would call me crazy, for obvious reasons.

If skl chooses not to answer your query, I would understand her reasoning and let it go. Could be none of your business.

    Curiosity killed the cat… hahaha…

    Just funning and reasoning…

This is a quote I received a few months ago. They are very secure and near Juan Santamaria International.

We charge $5 a day, $30 a week and $75 a month. Each unit is an individual concrete construction with a steel slide up and down door that is lockable at the bottom. The sizes are 10′ wide X 20′ deep. There is a secon size, 10′ wide X 25′ deep. Those are renting for $90.

The entire complex is located on a little less than an acre, there is a 7′ cement wall completely around it and it is lighted at night. We live on site and have dogs. We also have a closed circuit TV system and each camera has a motion detector. We have never had a proble.

Our fascility is new. We have been up and going for only a few months. The area here is called Rosario de Naranjo. If we can be of service please call us at 444-6380 or the cell number is 351-2485. Our normal hours are from 7 am to 6 pm. However, a phone call will open the gates for you. We keep the gates closed at all times.

One topic to discuss: “Hurricane Season” This is to be a record year everywhere in the belt.

Mainly, Costa Rica catches the fringe of rain.

The best thing to do is use the ICE calling cards and a pay phone.

There are a lot of various stores that sell these cards. They are have three different designations and two different prices.

Designations are the 197, 198 and 199 cards with denominations of 1,000 colones and 3,000 colones. The smaller amount will not make a very long call to the States. Cost runs about 32 cents or 169 colones a minute as of 19 April 2006.

Use of a hotel phone with the calling card will add to the cost of call. Using the hotel’s phone… well I have heard many horror stories.

Scratch off the secret number on the back of the card, Pick up the pay phone, Dial the three digit number on the front of the card, press 2 on the phone, enter the uncovered number on the back of the card… then dial 001-area code-phone number.

Real simple if you get a card that goes only to Spanish. The 197 and 198 card connect only in Spanish. The 199 card answers in Spanish then goes to English.

    Cheers

Military disability or common citizen disability???

If you are on Medicaid in the States as a common citizen, then Medicaid will not work in Costa Rica.

If you are retired Military, then you have the advantage of using Medicaid in Costa Rica.

The best abvise that can be given is more than one trip to see all parts of the country:

    – Do you like the rainy season of about six months

    – Do you like the dry season of about six months

    – Do you want to live near a fault line or away

    – Do you like rain most of the year

    – Do you like heat and bugs

    – Do you like high altitude and very cool weather

    – Do you want seclusion or many friends from your country of origin

    – Do you like dry, where leaves fall of trees and they go dormant until rain

There are many “do you like” that I can add here. All of the above will give you a general idea of many areas of Costa Rica.

Make more than one trip. This country could be a culture shock. Find the area you like then visit it during different times of the year.

Then and only then, find a place to rent and get to know the people of that area. When you have accomplished the knowledge of the local people in the area you want to live, then you will be able to ask and locate that special place to live.

As a home inspector from wherever you live, your husband will be taken aback to what he finds in the way homes are built here. Suicide Shower Heads, No “P” traps, Inadequate Septic Systems, PVC Used for Everything… and it goes on… This is what you will find, unless you design the home yourself or purchase from a developer who has set his sights to please the buyer…

This is a totally new world. Get to know if before you set your sites on “paradise”.

    Wheeeeewwwww…..
