it’s deffinately A sad state of affairs for us in the states that do const.
the american contractors are the one dumping on the american tradesman.
when you can get labor at half the cost, that when the job runs out or they get fired you don’t have to match their unemployment,or werry about retribution when you break labor laws etc. etc. contractors are the biggest scourge.they promote the demise of the fabric that the U.S. was built on.
fair labor fair wages.quality work.

I have a friend, she also lives in one of the Hermossa developments where they keep americans under guard.they have had A few incidents even with shotgun willie patrolling.

theirs no crime in costa rica, hence no need for A gun.now if they had A problem with home invasions,or break-ins,or car jacking I could see someone wanting to not be A victim.
it’s the perfect world, why all the squabbling?

tounge in cheek of course.

I was staying at A friends home, with alot of posessions in it in Jaco sol, right next to the local drug dealer.while I was there,my brother and I,my brother is beyond fluent in spanish,we dealt with the ADT folks in Jaco.from the office to the officer that went around to do A monthly check.they came out, asked us how it was going, etc.
the guys they had then were the furthest from barney fife.you could tell they were greased when it came to their weapon.
I can’t speak for anywhere else.
How about putting a sign “Beware of Dogs(in Spanish)” on the windows around the house. There is also an alarm that you can buy that produce a barking dogs sound instead of the basic alarm sound…Radio Shack may carry it or any specialized electronic stores. Anyways, burglars are always afraid bitten by a dog.
they’ll just poison the dog,and if you use pseudo barking devices they’ll bring pseudo poison.
when you move there with dogs, and make your first in country vet visit the vet will ask you about getting the poison reversal medication.I know 3 pople that have had use for it.
to topic, the have an ADT office in Jaco.several folks use them.they have armed security that respond on motorcycles.
oh,theirs A guy and his wife that live on Calle Hermossa.they are retired feds also.
he’s A great guy,drives A full sized newer burgundy Chevy truck,flareside bed.
easy going,if you saw his tuck and hollered him up he’d chat.they’ve got/had your same interest regarding this.
we spoke several times at length about this subject.
he’d be A good source.and he’s always about.very active.

things can go bad quick.their was A house that had A small cabina on the property that A caretaker and his wife stayed in.he would live, all expenses paid and small stipend,as agreed on with the owner.he did odd jobs for things outside of the providance of the housing and maintenence contract.when the oner was there the wife was paid for her housekeeping and cooking and such.
this went on for awhile, several years.at some point the home had to be sold and the new owner was not having any of what he called nonense.the property had fencing and locks and such.which he thought was adequate.he displaced the keeper.
long story short,he cam bck and the house had only the concrete walls.everything else was removed.
I learned this from A friend who was looking to buy the property.he asked me to look at it as maybe overseeing the rebuild.
it was in the tarcoles community between orotina and Jaco.
it’s something to think about.these are things that jst happen.
