The other driver (who was falling down drunk) failed the breathalyzer but local rumor had it that he paid off the cops (who seemed singularly uninterested in our version of events). The locals, who were very kind to us obviously were siding with Don hotel owner because he was a local employer.
thats my big pet peeve for Costa Rica.the exploitation of the system becasue you got it like that and you can.

what David said.this could be “search”ed on this site and you’d be able to form A better thought than waiting for info to flow through this thread.
it truly lies in your level of resilience to situations and should something happen can you dust off your knees and keep moving,or run.
as with Davids last sentence.
deter and defend is something everyone does wherever they live.the differences are degrees and methods with which you apply to your safety.
PS,your Canadian, every Canadian I’ve met there was tough as new steel.no joke.

what gets me is the movement to save souls, when so many lives are lost to addiction in Costa Rica.
A little goes a long way down there.
Just letting you know that I agree with your hinted at viewpoint. And to the person who talks about all the ‘good’ they do..well, missionaries worldwide have done untold bad also.
so,we should stack the missionaries next to the real estate agents.
theirs enough wrong with anthing, anybody, anywhere.
I just identified what I know from experience.not anywhere else.
You just made me laugh out loud CostaRicaBill – That was bloody hilarious!
like we hear in the rooms of recovery.
“oh really, and what does an addict look like”?
and I’ve met SEVERAL missionaries.
they are in effect supported by their home churches through donations.they help restore some modicum of faith.
theirs some groups that take addicts and teach them how to do many forms of const. they do volunteer work within the communities of the really poor.and I see/saw results on a continuing basis.
I could go on and on with the things I’ve seen from these folks.

are you going to do the rotisserie style chicken?
their was A resturaunt in the mountain area called castillo, outside of SJ.in 1992
whe I was ther with my friend we went there.they had this humongous stand up unit.they had A log standing upright with 2-3″ limbs sticking out, arranged about 5 around and about 6-8 high.it looked like the did about 100 chickens at A time.
it really impressed me,and being A miamian with all cuban friends for the most part my palate is latin.I couldn’t imagine them soaked in Mojo then roasted.
anyway,you’ll see me there.
I’m gonna bring my tea bags to make A big pitcher of steeped carolina iced tea.
I’ve often thought of doing a calabash style seafood and fried chicken.that good, 3 dippedand floured batter fried chicken.mommas cole slaw and the baked beans from he!!.
I love me some kitchen.
i did fried shrimp and fried chicken and homemade marinara for a big recovery bash in Hermossa.45 people, man,I’m hungry now.
hope you do well.

I’ve been told that I remind people of Dennis O’Leary.
the fast raunchy or surreal sense of humor.yet darkly annimated.
surviving the dark sides of life.
I check in quite often.
I’ve been kinda busy doing A web site, actually A friend is doing it.
Cheer up,wspeed. The loudest ones are not the majority on this issue. And people tend to behave differently in person. Racist remarks are usually shouted from a distance.
thanks,I just find it so repressive, counterproductive and yet A flavor so many enjoy.
when I’m in A jam,and I pray,I’m not worried which God is listening, and I’m not gonna turn down the mercy of any of them.
and when folks pray for others,I hope I’m the other, regardless of their religion.I need all the help I can get right now.
