Does anyone have any insight as to the current status of of the plan regulador for Playa Palma / Bandera, Parrita? Last that I enquired was in late 2009 at the muni.I saw the plan but was told it is still being reviewed/approved by the ICT.
Could you tell me what you saw on the ‘plan regulador’ for Playa Palma’? It sounds like zoning or perhaps development plans. Several properties have sold recently but i haven’t been able to get down there since about the time you were there.

I gave you more credit than this kind of response.
I merely suggested going to the source (a former homeless person/group) to answer donna’s question. and a source that might be of interest (actually to all of you). The World Homeless Cup begins next sunday Sept.16 – 19. It is great fun to watch no matter which country you are a patriot or X patriot of.

(Team Costa Rica made an impressive debut at the 2009 Milan Homeless World Cup finishing in 14th place. Costa Rica intend to bring a wonderful spirit to their second Homeless World Cup appearance in Rio. Final Position: Milan 2009 – 14th)

Imagine 14th in world competition in its first year of participation. Much more fun than any bowl game i ever saw.
My only negative reaction was the swoosh but it is good to know they do something positive.
Dougdonna whatever the group is, it is obviously ‘not well known’
I would avise you to check it out further before you use this company
all any of you have to do is click on the web site. What better place to get info about homeless than from the homeless. I suppose you didn’t know there were any homeless people in your new country. Most people in your old country don’t know they have any either, not to mention a team representing their country. See the video Kicking It!

I don’t know exactly but i follow the http://www.homelessworldcup.org. and C.R. participated last year. Whoever organizes them would probalby know, or perhaps a member of the Team Costa Rica.the world championship is in Brazil Sept 19-16 2010.Watch the DVD Kicking It!
No doubt the team could use support. Make sure it is NOT World Vision.
Yes, yvette, the only problem is that the murders were not committed in the United States, so the U.S. has no standing to extradite or adjudicate this pair. The crimes were committed on Panamanian or Costa Rican soil. Those are the countries with jurisdiction and Costa Rica, at least, has no death penalty.

And, while we’re at it, can you point us to some credible evidence that these people are clinically mentally ill or that either of them has been on Ritalin or anything else? Or is this something you pulled out of . . wherever?
I didn’t pull it out of my whatever, i pulled it out of the Aug. 8 JAMA (Journal of American Medical Society) and a recent study from the Army Times, from a friend (age 33) we recently pulled out of the river having been on mind altering drugs since 3rd grade and…

… from a person i sat beside on our riverbank who informed me that he had had to kill little girls like me in the war, then said … ‘they programed me to kill why didn’t they de-program me before they sent me home? turned out he was the serial killer (of prostitutes here in our city) apprehended a short while after our conversation.

Anyone who kills a living thing is mentally ill in my book. Interesting though that he has refused psyche testing. Just sayin…..
Certainly snappy dressers eh?

Let’s hope they’re sent back to Panama where they will hopefully rot in some hell-hole until someone whacks them rather than get extradited to the USA where the taxpayer will pay for them to watch TV for the next 50 years.

    Scott
Excuse me scott but u.s. has death penalty. so they kill in costa rica …the u.s extradites them …kills them….slowly and painfully by injection (with an audience no less) of some sort of stuff that they haven’t worked out yet…that should work?
These people are mentally ill and need to be analyzed. He’s too young to be a viet vet, has he been on ritilin for 20yrs or more? what about her? where in the world are they coming from? executing them as you suttley suggest is not going to help society one bit. As Rodney King said: ‘Can’t we all just get along?”

What makes you think I agree with HR 5741. Or agree with everything our government does. Just because a bill is presented does not make it law. You are just jumping on your high horse for what I do not Know. I am not attacking you but just making a observation from my many years of following this website. Since you have taken it that way I apologize. I thought this web site was for information on Costa Rica and not used for someones political agenda. We can get this type of information on many sites. I love America although I dont agree with all the things that out politicians do but that is why we have elections. America is far far from perfect but it is still the greatest country in the world. I am just looking for a less expensive and slower way of life and Costa Rica can offer this and I appreciate all the information this site offers just remember we are hungry for all the information we can get on Costa Rica and dont need the U.S. bashing in this forum. From the PM’s I have received there are many others that agree.
oh please! Scott is right on and you know it. Forums are fun where we can let it all hang out. Some of us left because we couldn’t. there is only one political agenda in the u.s. (murdochracy). hmmm. you could have found a cheaper and slower way of life in your beloved country….say on the street in the city of your choice with the guys who made it great for you….park benches are cheap and very quiet. I’m reminded of that saying back in the days when people had the right to say what they wished …you know, that freedom of speech thing? What is it they said? Love it or Leave it? well you made your choice. you’d better go home. they need you back there and no doubt they could find cheap accomodations in one of the houses they foreclosed. Scott is spot on and you know it.

The secret word in all the above is ‘petty’. in my near 20 yrs on a beach in CR we’ve had break-ins, things disappear from year to year.have never called the police but just talked with neighbors and most times find out who is the culprit and just keep a distance. if i had gold jewelry i wouldn’t wear it, i think that is a stupid thing for anyone to do although i see it a lot in whatever country i’ve traveled/lived in. been broken into here in new york state too so you are right it isn’t just cr or central america as some people think, But this serial murder case really knocked the wind out of my trusting sails! Whatever could have happened/or not happened to these two peoples’ psyches? There’s so much being written and talked about in studies of the workings of our brains i hope someone sees to it that these two brains are prime subjects for study.Plus the fact that they found each other. holy smokes! y
We were just wondering why you moved to Costa Rica instead of Panama? What were your main reasons for moving to Costa Rica?
What does Costa Rica have that Panama doesn’t?
    Thanks,
    DT
well i didn’t actually move to costa rica.we just go once or twice or thrice a year. a friend’s mother in law from cr visited me here in states on way to niagara falls because i speak spanish i suppose. after the second visit she invited us to come down so we did and i fell in love with a little place in Tortugero on the San Juan river which was not for sale but after that she called me to tell me about a similar place which became the place we’re talking about which she helped me get. Besides, i don’t know anyone in Panama.

Or she could sell the casita at a reasonable price and give the proceeds to a local charity. The Cruz Roja is always desperate for money. The local school or church could probably use a capital improvement. There are a couple of bird sanctuaries that could use funding. The list goes on . . .
Yeah, she could but she doesn’t know what a reasonable price is and besides that the Cruz Roja puts too much money in its own pocket, unless you mean the Costa Rican equivalent Cruz Verde. The local church has been well subsidized by the Christians (born-again i believe they call themselves) and the imf and world bank have just pledged humanitarian aide to the schools.Bird sanctuaries sounds like a terrific idea. thanks. Or my new favorite the Costa Rica Homeless Soccer team!
Yvette – how did you go from 1st person pronouns (“I”) to third person pronouns (“she”) in a matter of sentences? Is it you or her? my advice is to sell (and yes David, we all know what is a “reasonable” price – it is one that the buyer is willing to pay and the seller is willing to accept, neither party being under duress!). (Appraisal 101)

If necessary, take your lumps and get back to the USA and don’t look back. For most people, living in CR is an adventure and, as such, just enjoy it as long as you can!
    crb
crb I was responding to David in kind. It’s me. For me as well it has been a 19yr. adventure! I’ve enjoyed just about everything CR has to offer. Mainly people. one thing I haven’t experienced yet – the turtles down south. But marines have a way of taking the fun out stuff, plus i’m not sure it’s the u.s. i want to get back to. thanks for the lesson. an appraisal sounds right. perhaps the person whose video i watched the other day on this site. Thanks. y
My wife and I like to do very adventurous things. Mountain Biking, Caving, riding bicycles across America, backpacking, etc. What are some of the most adventurous things you have done in Costa Rica?
driving up to Arenal Lodge in 2002 many stops to remove rocks in road through deep water puddles etc in a rented carola arriving at the hotel and people sitting on the porch watching me park between their huge 4wheeldrives jaws dropped saying “did you make it up here in that?” That was the least of it. Later that night the three of us drew the drapes and watched the volcano errupt. i’d driven up there many times only to catch a peek between clouds of the lava dripping down. this time OMG! not a cloud in the sky and those were no drips more like house size balls fantastico and happy birthday to friend melanie.
