Why Real Estate Investors Are Buying in Papagayo Region Of Costa Rica
Obviously all of Costa Rica is beautiful. But not all of Costa Rica is where you want to live and where you want to invest. I will tell you exactly why you want to live and you want to invest here in the Papagayo area.
The Papagayo by the way means “the parrot,” the Bay of the Parrot and it’s because we have so many beautiful parrots flying through the trees here. It goes back to the 80s.
The government of Costa Rica wanted to find one area that they could make the focal point of foreign investment and tourism and they picked the Papagayo instead of anywhere else in the country for three very simple reasons.
The first reason is this area has the best weather in the whole country. The majority of Costa Rica is actually a rainforest. The key word “rain”. It rains a lot. Most of us don’t want to spend 350 days a year in the pouring rain.
This part of Costa Rica, the Papagayo Guanacaste has the best weather. We have five months actually of no rain at all. Not one drop. We’re like California and the other five to six months a year, we’re like Florida.
All day long it’s beautiful and then about 3 o’clock in the afternoon, you get that big one-hour beautiful tropical shower and then it clears up just in time for the sunset. We also have the best water in the whole country.
What I mean by that is we have no surfing and that’s important because most people are not world class surfers. Everywhere else in this country, you can’t swim because the waves are so big that you literally can drown unless you’re a professional surfer.
This area is like a gigantic bay. We have all the water sports here except surfing. We have the best snorkeling, the best scuba diving, the best sailing, the best fishing.
You can go on a Catamaran tour or Jet Ski ride or a standup paddleboard. Old people can swim in the water. Young kids can swim in the water without fear of being sucked out the sea in the undertow.
The third reason that this area has done so well is because of the Liberia International Airport. We are 20 minutes from the international airport. So you just flew here from the United States or Canada.
You just took three to eight hours of your life to get to Costa Rica. The last thing you want to do is get in the car and drive an hour and a half to your house or your condo. Right now, I am exactly 19 minutes from the airport.
You literally fly in, go through customs and within a half an hour, you’re having a cocktail at the beach. That is why you want to be here in the Papagayo.
