Interestingly enough, the word for both moth and butterfly in Spanish is mariposa, there does not appear to be a major distinction between the creatures apart from the fact that the moth – the one that comes out at night – is called mariposa nocturna.
If any of our Spanish language experts can help us out with that too, that would be great.
