The 55 year old man typing this article very rarely went to bars, he’s never gone to ‘clubs’ or the other places in Costa Rica where ‘singles’ supposedly hang out.

The idea of a woman sitting in a noisy bar waiting for a man with a drink in her hand simply doesn’t appeal to me …

It’s been my personal experience that you meet too many beautiful, available women just going about your daily activities never mind putting yourself in a high-risk situation in some bar at night …

It’s been quite some time since I was single but one of my ex-girlfriends is a real estate broker and we met whilst searching for a home and I came across another when I started chatting to a rather dusky beauty walking my dog in the park and another who was the manager of a rather lovely restaurant.

A lady dentist helped me to understand “multi-tasking” in ways I never could have imagined and about a year later after we parted, I bumped into my now wife – who is originally from Guatemala – because I was buying a pair of hiking boots and her family owned a chain of shoe stores.

Mayra and I were together for ten years before we got married and she is one very special lady.

One thing that does surprise most foreigners when they visit Costa Rica is that ‘age’ is not that important in a relationship with a Costa Rican woman.

Everyday you’ll notice American men in their 50’s and 60’s proudly strutting down the road with a gorgeous 30 year old Tica on their arm and quite often they are obviously both very happy to be together.

If you are a single man aged 30-60 and looking for the highest probability relationship ‘opportunities.’ (Sorry! I’m thinking like an investor again…)

The real rich ‘niche’ market is women aged 30-45 who are not looked at any more by the local men (they’re looking at the 25 year old ‘flat-bellies’).

I can tell you from personal experience that the Ticas are definitely amongst the most beautiful, passionate and sexiest women on this planet and of course, they make perfect ‘long-haired dictionaries’ to help you learn Spanish.

But don’t forget that Latin passion swings both ways… It can be a wonderful one day but, if she catches you looking at or, even worse chatting up another woman the next day… Look out!
