I traverse the hills of Escalares, Dominical daily working for clients and assisting customers in locating their dream property.

This area continues to be known as “The Zip Code” in all of the Costa Ballena region. If you have not seen Escalares or enjoyed its beauty, you are truly missing the most spectacular geographic area in all of Costa Rica!

Rising above the Pacific to elevations above 2,500 feet, you get many dramatic perspectives, which will surely fulfill your appetite. Whether you yearn to drink in the most incredible Pacific ocean views, take walks along many long beaches, traverse over the rocks seeking ocean life, surfing….

Or what about the mountain activities that the area provides?

There are some fabulous waterfalls to dive in and swim, incredible roads to hike and partake in the natural beauty full of Congo (Howler) and White Faced Monkeys, Toucans, Sloths, and numerous other wildlife to enhance your day.

I have incorporated some photos of fabulous locations in this area to whet your appetite as it just doesn’t get any better than right there!

And for those seeking your nearest 24 Hour Fitness (or name brand Gym) – fuggedaboudit! You don’t need it! Treadmills, nah! Stair-climbers? Why? Cardio machines… I don’t think so! All so very boring!

Get outside, breathe in our pollution-free air! Go swimming in our 84-degree ocean, grab a paddle board and tour the coastline focusing on your abs, get your cross trainers on and hike the elevations of Escalares, you will sweat like never before!

Or, for the adventurous, come to the outside “gym” that my good friend and I built a few years ago. On a weekly basis we kickbox while monkeys watch and enjoy the clean oxygen that the rainforest naturally provides.

I’m 46 years old now, we have lived in Dominical, Costa Rica since 2004 and I feel better than I’ve felt in a LONG time. Many of my friends back home say that I look younger now than I did when we left the U.S. which I think must be true because I feel ten years younger than I did when I arrived …

Our little outdoor gym is equipped with a kick bag, water punching bag, pull-up and bar dip bars, an organic piece of lumber we call our ab-crunch machine, plenty of boxing gloves and kicking apparatus, push up equipment and more.

On the days we strive for more, it is a nice 24-minute hike to the summit of Escalares where we get additional carbohydrate burn to kick-start our workout!

So who needs a gym at those prices when you have it all naturally right here in Escalares Dominical? Who knows, you may just buy some land from me and build your own little outdoor gym. If so, please invite me!

But right now, I’m off to the ‘gym’ to sweat!
