Maybe it’s because I accidentally killed her husband that she just laid down in her soft, comfortable bed and died of a broken heart or, perhaps it was the stress of losing her mate that meant she could not go on living and decided to simply stop breathing…

All these bloody silly thoughts were running through my mind as I saw this magnificent nest built in the cocktail cabinet in our vacation home in the mountains …

A few weeks earlier my girlfriend heard some strange noises coming from underneath the refrigerator and out popped the fastest mouse I’ve ever seen.

I was determined to capture it and then release it outside but, as it climbed straight up the wall behind the fridge – which I honestly didn’t know they were capable of doing – I accidentally injured it with the broom and then sadly had to put it out of it’s misery.

I had trouble sleeping that night.
