New Samara Vegetarian Restaurant ‘Ahora Si’ Gets Rave Reviews!
The culinary scene in Samara has been growing quickly this last year.
Ahora Si Veggie Restaurant sits inside the Casa Paraiso Hotel and is the very first and only veggie restaurant around Samara or Carrillo. Finally, I had the chance to sample Ahora Si.
Walking into Ahora Si for the first time, I was quickly met by Sabina Salvatore, the hostess and chef. She tells me, “I’m Italian, and I came to Samara Beach three years ago in order to start a two month Costa Rican tour. But guess what? I fell in love with Samara and I have not left my corner of paradise for more than a year!
During that time I was working as a waitress for a famous Italian pizzeria and restaurant, Al Manglar, and during my free time I loved to enjoy long swims in the ocean, some great snorkeling and free diving at Isla Chora or some walks in the jungle to relax under a waterfall and concoct my next new recipe.”
What a life!
“Meat Was Just Not A Good Food For My Body Or My Spirit.”
Sabina goes on to tell me, “I love nature and the pondering the meaning of life. Twenty years ago I realized that meat was just not a good food for my body or my spirit. I started to be more and more conscious of my preference for simple, organic foods and I did not know where to find them easily.
Costa Rica is so very good for me because here I can find an amazing variety of fruits and veggies to work with. Some of them don’t even have a translation in English or any other language. Amazing and very healthy food!”
Her restaurant is Sabina’s way to live in harmony with nature and most of all with animals, avoiding all the violence and the pain of the animal born to be meat; “My restaurant can introduce our guests to more healthy dining choices while allowing them to become excited about new tastes and textures. It is nice to know that what one is eating is truly good for one. I have the unique opportunity to play with veggies and fruits to create special, unique and tasty combinations.”
And what a menu of delicious choices Sabina puts before you. Choosing will be hard I guarantee it. Old favorites, like lasagna, are entirely retooled and the new taste treats are abundant from salads through desserts. Sabina is able to transform a meal in paradise into quite an education for the palate.
Her brown eyes sparkle when she says, “Ahora Si affords the possibility to discover that one can not only survive without meat while still getting all the required protein required but also discover the many additional advantages of incorporating more fruits and vegetables into your diet. To me, Ahora Si Veggie Restaurant allows my passion and love for veggie cooking to be creativity expressed. Seeing a smile of satisfaction coming from the face of my friends and customers from the very first bite of every plate; this is what I call Pura Vida!”
