Where is the Nicoya Peninsula Located?

The coast is where most of the activity seems to be as far as migration: nearly everyone moving in is coming here for a taste of the beaches, and cattle raising is the main focus in the inland areas. The small villages here are known for each having a very distinct charm, and this is where some of the best surfing on the globe is located.

The Peninsula is strategically located on the Pacific Coast with banks, supermarkets, shopping, medical facilities, veterinarians, hardware stores, and the list just goes on. In Playa Tambor there is a fishing pier where you can buy fresh fish daily and an organic food market on Saturdays with fresh fruits and vegetables, herbs, breads and even fresh goat cheeses. (These cheeses are a must try)!

What Type of Activities are Popular on the Nicoya Peninsula?

Surfing is one of the dominant reasons why people come here: snorkeling and diving are also popular activities on the peninsula. Someone who is truly looking for a getaway can find turtle beaches, subterranean caves, unbelievable spots for bird watching, and species that are very rare in other parts of the world.

This is an area of Costa Rica that many who are studying wildlife would have an incredible time visiting. There are so many different types of animals that call this place home, any photographer or habitat consultant would be thrilled to visit, or plan an extended stay. Once you get off of the main highway in the beach area, the travel goes very slowly here, as the roads are fairly weathered. Another draw for some, this adds to the “off the grid” charm of the area.

If your interest lies with larger parcels of land or farms and you still want to be close to the ocean or have ocean views, the Playa Coyote and San Miguel areas have great investment opportunities with prices that are still affordable.

Houses Available in Puntarenas, Costa Rica

This is the capital and largest city in the province of Puntarenas, and is home to around 100,000 residents. A major destination for surfers and those seeking a warm and enjoyable climate are just a few of the reasons why many seek to buy property here.

You can find a single family home here for prices that are greatly reduced compared to what you would see in the capital of San Jose. These properties run around an average price of $500,000 – $700,000, and would be a very life changing experience to purchase and call your own.

Opportunities to buy Land Within the Nicoya Peninsula

The Vista Ridge Golf and Country Club is a spot right here where nature touches every fairway, and it is a gem that is just 12 minutes from the beaches of Playas del Coco. The greens are small, but the fairways are incredibly challenging, and the scenery around you is a combination of volcanic views, lush jungle, and you can enjoy the cooler breezes of the higher elevation while here.
