Retired in Costa Rica – Avoiding negative thinkers …
“To all Ticos,
My wife and I bought a condo here in Santa Ana and have lived here for 18 months. Let me stated categorically that we love Costa Rica and we love the people. We have lived in the U.S. states of Connecticut, Minnesota, Texas, Kansas and Florida.
I am annoyed by those who make broad statements critical of Costa Rica, as if they never experienced slow government agencies or less than honest providers of services or products elsewhere.
I have met and dealt with honest and pleasant Costa Ricans in both skilled and unskilled jobs. We have had furniture built, electricians have installed fans and fixtures, and we have dealt with painters and automobile mechanics. Not one of these people provided poor quality or charged dishonest prices.
We have applied for residency and that has taken time, but we have the official paperwork and we lack only our ID cards. I was somewhat annoyed until my niece informed me of the process of becoming a U.S. resident or citizen.
We have one objective here in Costa Rica, and that is to avoid – no, flee – from all negative – thinking North Americans. We left Florida because of them.
Costa Rica is beautiful and the people are wonderful… We love it here.
George P Purcell.
