Snowbirds From The U.S. and Canada Begin Their Winter Migration to Costa Rica
It is that time of year. Up in Canada and the Northern United States, leafs have fallen, daylight has shrunk to less than 12 hours and it has officially become cold!
The change in season is always nice to see, but lets face it, after a couple weeks that cold weather gets old very quickly.
For our Canadian travelers, they have already seen enough and many have already booked their escapes to Jaco Beach where they can count on sunshine and warm weather.
If you are thinking of visiting Costa Rica this winter, here is what you need to know about our high season.
The high season in Costa Rica runs from Christmas to Easter, with those bookends being complete peak weeks.
Christmas week and Easter week is not only filled with international travelers, but with local Costa Rican families who usually have those weeks off and typically make a huge exodus to the beaches of Costa Rica.
Rates during those weeks will be at their highest, and its pretty common to see near 100% occupancy.
Chances are if you are considering a trip this Christmas you may already be too late. The high season months of January, February, March and April is essentially our summer, also known as the dry season.
In the Jaco area, count on temperatures between 80-90 degrees, plenty of sunshine, warm ocean waters and little to no rain.
Its a great time to visit Jaco, if anything just because the warm weather tastes better when you are leaving friends and family left in the cold up north.
Hotels in Jaco aren’t quite as popular as condo vacation rentals. Because many travelers are spending 2-8 weeks here, they tend to prefer the more comfortable accommodations of a condo or home.
Rates are affordable, with a 2 bedroom month long rental on the beach as low as $2500.
If you are considering visiting Jaco Beach this season be sure to begin your travel plans now and don’t get left in the cold all winter!
